QATAR: Portugal defeats Uruguay 2-0 in Group H play to advance to the Round of 16 with two goals from Bruno Fernandes in the second half.
In the 54th minute, the 0-0 score was finally broken when Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo missed Fernandes’ cross, and it went straight into the goal.
With a second goal from the penalty spot in stoppage time, the Manchester United midfielder helped Portugal climb to the top of Group H with six points.
Fernandes had two opportunities to score a goal but was both stopped, first by Sergio Rochet and then by the woodwork. He could have scored a poker.
In the first half, Uruguay’s Rodrigo Bentancur came close to opening the score, and minutes after coming on to replace Darwin Nunez, Maxi Gomez rattled the post.
Ghana Beat South Korea 3-2 in a Nail biting Game
In a dramatic and unpredictable World Cup Group H match on Monday, Ghana defeated South Korea 3-2 thanks to two goals from Mohammed Kudus, keeping them in the run for the next round.
Anthony Taylor, the referee, issued South Korea’s head coach Paulo Bento a red card for his protests.
Bento will be absent from the team dugout for South Korea’s last group match against Portugal on December 2 due to the red card.

They tried just to repel Brazil’s attacks, but they faltered. Now qualifying gets a little more challenging for Switzerland. They will need to win against Serbia in the final game.
