UNITED STATES: After Justin Lin’s departure, Fast X has chosen a new director to direct the film. According to Variety, Louis Leterrier, who directed The Incredible Hulk and the first two Transporter films, is in talks to direct the tenth installment of the fast and furious franchise.

Louis Leterrier replaces Justin Lin

Louis Leterrier is an excellent fit for the position. He has a genuine drive to direct action films, and his career began in 2005 with Jet Li’s action blockbuster Unleashed and Jason Statham’s debut film Transporter. Louis Leterrier’s big stand started with The Incredible Hulk in 2008, which received mixed reviews but went on to become one of the most popular Hulk films among fans. Edward Norton’s version of the angry green beast emerged as the epic rendition of the character.

Justin Lin exited the film amid creative differences

Justin Lin was initially set to helm Fast X, but he dropped out following a series of clashes with star-producer Vin Diesel. As per the reports from The Hollywood Reporter, Lin made his decision in the heat of the moment.

Lin was the driving force behind the franchise’s transition from street racing to action-packed racers battling a worldwide threat. He may be leaving the film as director, but he co-wrote it with Dan Mazeau and will continue to produce it.

A whopping $300M budget marks the film as the costliest one in the franchise

Fast X involves a multi-starer cast which is enough to skyrocket the budget to a whopping $300M. Universal Studios is rumored to have spent $100 million on cast salaries.

The ensemble cast includes:

Vin Diesel, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Jordan Brewster.

The previous year witnessed the release of Fast and Furious 9, which had the lowest box office of the franchise amid the pandemic. Even though the franchise has declined in terms of the story since Fast and Furious 7, It is expected the multi-stater cast will put the franchise back on track. The film has a long time until its release. It will hit theatres on May 19, 2023.
