According to the spokesman of the Nigeria Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francisca Omayuili, the evacuation arrangement is made to save the lives of Nigeria in the affected countries.

Omayuili made this known to the reporters in Abuja and added that as soon as the Nigeria Government notices that the Russian army has attacked Ukrainians, it starts its arrangement of bringing back the intended Nigerians who wish to come back.

Nigeria’s Government is concerned about the lives of its citizens, and it will do all it can to make sure that the intended Nigerians return home unhurt, Omayuili noted.

Omayuili, therefore, urged Nigerians in the affected counties to remain calm and not to panic as the Government is taking full responsibility for their safety.

However, the statement further added that all the needed paperwork is done to bring them back and safeguard the life and property of those residing in the country.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has received with shock the news of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Omayuili said.

Omayuili noted that, as soon as the airport is ready for flights in those affected states, those willing to return to Nigeria’s needs will be catered for.

The decision to evacuate Nigerians from the affected states was reached as Nigeria House of Representative members called for quick intervention to save the lives and property of Nigerians abroad.

The members, however, employ the Government to partner with private, nongovernmental, and government agencies to achieve the plan in non-government time, Omayuili.
