INDIA: Shreyas Talpade landed a role in Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency alongside Anupam Kher. The Dhakkad actress unveiled a poster depicting the famous Marathi actor as former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The first look description reads, “An upcoming film slated for release in 2023, Emergency is based on true events that unfolded in 1975. The film chronicles incidents that took place under the leadership of Mrs Indira Gandhi, one of the most Powerful Women in Indian History.”

Kangana Ranaut unveiled the new poster for her forthcoming film, Emergency, on her Instagram account on Wednesday. The caption read, “Presenting @shreyastalpade27 as Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee in #Emergency, a true nationalist whose love and pride for the nation was unparalleled and who was a young upcoming leader during the time of Emergency….”
The newly released images confirm the inclusion of prominent star Shreyas Talpade in the film’s ensemble cast. The talented actor tweeted the poster on his Twitter handle, quoting, “Honoured & Happy to play one of the most Loved, Visionary, a true patriot & Man of the masses…Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. I hope I live up to the expectations. It’s time for #Emergency! Ganpati Bappa Morya.”
Anupam Kher recently joined the cast of the film as political leader Jayaprakash Narayan. Shreyas’ inclusion in the film confirms that the film will contain a brilliant star cast, improving the story’s overall performance.
Kangana adds her directorial vision to the film while starring herself in the lead, which is set to be produced by her production company, Manikarnika Films. The Bollywood actress also penned down the story, while Ritesh Shah provided the screenplay and dialogues.
Shreyas Talpade most recently appeared in Hotstar’s Kaun Pravin Tambe?, a biographical sports drama film based on the life of an Indian cricketer. Shreyas is now starring in the Marathi television series Mazhi Tuzhi Reshimgath.
