Ellen Page, the Oscar-nominated actor known for films like Juno, Inception, Super, and X-Men: Days of Future Past, among others, has come out as transgender male named Elliot in an emotional Twitter post. Page’s announcement has been greeted with congratulatory messages from the fans and followers fully backing him. The 33-year-old Canadian actor, who came out as gay 6 years ago, is married to Emma Portner, a Canadian professional dancer and choreographer.
The 26-year-old Portner, while reposting Page’s announcement on her Instagram, wrote that she is “so proud.” She added, “Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world. I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
Elliot began the post by saying, “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.”
Elliot’s most famous role in the recent times has been that of Vanya Hargreeves in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy. It recently got renewed for a third season.
