INDIA: Delhi-NCR residents have reported strong earthquake vibrations. The magnitude 6.2 earthquake that impacted Nepal occurred at a depth of 5 km, according to the National Centre for Seismology.
Parts of India, including its capital, New Delhi and the neighbouring areas, felt the quake as well. In several areas of New Delhi, people hurried out of their homes and business buildings. In India or Nepal, there were no immediate reports of damage.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake’s epicentre was in Nepal at 29.39 degrees north latitude and 81.23 degrees east longitude. The GFZ (GeoForschungsZentrum), the national German Research Centre for Geosciences, has reported that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 has struck the Nepal region.
Strong earthquakes were detected in various locations in north India, and people in Dehradun rushed out of their buildings. A 6.2 on the Richter Scale earthquake struck Nepal at 2:51 p.m. today, according to the National Centre for Seismology.
A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck western Nepal at 2.40 p.m., with its epicentre in the Talkot area of Bajhang district, 700 km west of Kathmandu. No documented losses of life or property were reported. The Bhajang area and India were also affected by the earthquake.
Nepal experienced two earthquakes with 6.2 and 4.6 Richter Scale magnitudes on Tuesday, followed by two tremors within 30 minutes, with the first occurring at 14:25:52 IST and the second at 14:51:04 IST.
The depth of the first earthquake, which had a magnitude of 4.6, was discovered to be 10 km, while the depth of the second earthquake, which had a magnitude of 6.2, was discovered to be 5 km.
Along with others, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya left Nirman Bhawan as violent tremors shook various regions of north India.
