UNITED STATES: Former professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson, also referred to as “The Rock,” is now a well-known Hollywood actor. In keeping with his collective memory of being open about his hardships, the 51-year-old did discuss his mental health in an episode of The Pivot Podcast.
Johnson shared on Instagram that he had put a lot of effort into constructing the emotional skills necessary to deal with his mental pain after the release of his podcast episode.
Johnson recognized that he has “had two or three episodes of depression over the years.” He said that “the playing career one was a big one” for him, recalling how he initially suffered from depression when his college was cut short due to a shoulder injury.
He added, “I didn’t want to attend class. I was prepared to go. I dropped out. I simply left without taking any midterm exams.”
Johnson said, “I had no idea what mental health was. I had no idea what depression was. I just knew I didn’t want to be there, that I wasn’t going to any of the team meetings. I wasn’t taking part in anything.”
After separating from his ex-wife Dany Garcia, he ended up going through his second depression episode. Next, the Black Adam actor spoke about his third episode of depression in 2017.
The actor said that at that time, he knew what it was and happily, at the time, he had some friends on whom he could rely and say, “You know, I’m feeling a little wobbly now.”
He added, “There’s a little struggle going on. I’m seeing some grey instead of blue.”
Johnson said that if we keep that pain inside, it won’t get better. Their superpower is the fortitude to approach people. Two of his friends died by suicide. He suggested that people should speak with someone.
