Dubai Residential Building Devoured by Flames Following a ‘Loud Bang’

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: A massive fire that erupted in a residential structure in Dubai City, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the morning of Monday, September 25, has been successfully extinguished.

The incident occurred in the Elite 6 Sports Residence, a 21-story building located in Sports City within Dubailand.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., residents reported a loud explosion, and shortly thereafter, the sound of numerous sirens filled the air as Civil Defence fire trucks swiftly responded to the scene.

“Scary, loud bang woke me up. Streets full of police cars and loads of people in the street too,” a local wrote on Reddit.

Another resident said, “I live there. Pretty bad fire. It took more than 2hrs to put it out and spread to all 21 floors. I ran out with almost no stuff, and now I’m regretting it.”

The left side of the multi-storey tower displays visible fire damage while authorities have successfully extinguished the blaze.

Meanwhile, residents have been safely evacuated from the affected building, and there have been no reported casualties thus far. However, UAE officials have not yet provided any comments regarding the incident.

On May 18, the UAE Ministry of Interior released data highlighting a significant increase in the number of building fires.

According to official statistics, there were over 3,000 incidents reported in 2022, 2,090 in 2021, and 1,968 in 2020.

The data reveals that a majority of these fires occurred in residential areas, with 1,385 incidents in houses and apartments, 256 in commercial buildings, 153 on farms, and 122 in public service facilities.

The ministry did not disclose any further details regarding the injuries or casualties that caused the accident.
