DPO and Six Others Killed in Fresh Attack in Niger State

NIGERIA. NIGER STATE. KEBBI STATE: A Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Umar Mohammed Dakin-Gari in charge of Nasko Division in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State, has been reportedly killed due to bandits attack Nasko community recently.

At about 1 pm local time on Tuesday, the incident saw six security officers killed during the attack.

According to the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Wasiu Abiodun, the shooters were engaged by the joint task force team of Police, Military, and Local Vigilantes. At the same time, the enemies attempted to launch an attack on the Nasko community.

Abiodun added that two Police Officers and four vigilantes were confirmed killed during the gun battle.

On 15/03/2022 at exactly 1300hrs, armed bandits/terrorists invaded Nasko village, Magama LGA of Niger State, Abiodun noted.

Abiodun also said that many bandits escaped with various degrees of injuries during the gun battle among the Security personnel and the bandits.

On Behalf of the Niger state Police command and Nigeria at large, we express our heartfelt condolences to the families of those Police Officers, Military Personnel, and Vigilantes that lost their lives in defense of their nation. May their soul rest in peace, Abiodun prayed.

Abiodun, therefore, urged the members of the community and the general public to remain calm as the Police force will never relent in making sure peace and order return to our country.

Similarly, it was also gathered that four Police personnel and a Civilian were reportedly murdered at Tomatoes processing company in Garfara village under Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The Police PRO of the state, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, told the journalists that the bandits in their large numbers on a motorcycle attacked the facility at precisely 10 am local time.

According to an eyewitness, the bandits had earlier brought a letter to the facility informing them of their coming but didn’t state the exact day and time.

It was also gathered that bandits killed three other civilians on their way to the company.
