UNITED STATES: In a string of tweets uploaded by a hacker on Wednesday, Donald Trump Jr.’s account on X posted that his father had died.

The account stated his father had passed away in a series of postings that have since been removed, and levelled a racial slur towards President Joe Biden. Less than an hour after being posted, the posts were removed from the page with 10 million followers.

The account was hacked, according to The Trump Organisation.

“I’m sad to announce, my father Donald Trump has passed away. I will be running for president in 2024,” one of the posts read.

Another post mentioned “some interesting messages” with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, and North Korea was “about to get smoked”.

Others named Logan Paul, a YouTuber, and Richard Heart, a cryptocurrency influencer who is being investigated for fraud by the Securities and Exchange Commission. After 08:00 ET (12:00 GMT), the posts started to appear.

While his son’s account claimed his death, his father wrote an unrelated statement on his Truth Social account.

Donald Trump Jr.’s spokesperson, Andrew Surabian, claimed the account was hacked and stated that the post was obviously not true.

Trump Jr. has subsequently posted on X (formerly Twitter), but has made no mention of his account being hacked other than to “like” a tweet claiming he had been hacked.

After the former president’s X account was suspended in 2021 owing to the potential for inciting violence, he launched Truth Social. It was later restored in November of last year.

In October 2022, Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion (£37 billion) and renamed it X.
