INDIA: Taapsee Pannu starrer, Dobaaraa, debuted in Indian theatres on Friday, August 19, 2022. The mystery-drama film had a slow start at the box office. According to reports, Dobaaraa had a low occupancy on its first day.
Anurag Kashyap’s directorial mystery drama film Dobaaraa is a remake of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage. Taapsee Pannu stars in the lead role, while Pavail Gulati, Nassar, Rahul Bhatt, Saswata Chatterjee, Himanshu Choudhry, Madhurima Roya, and Nidhi Singh forms the film’s ensemble cast.
Ekta Kapoor and Pen Marudhar Entertainment produced and distributed the film. Sylvester Fonseca provided the cinematography for the mystery drama feature. Aarti Bajaj edited the film, and Gaurav Chatterji and Shor police gave the music for the Taapsee Pannu starrer movie.
Trade analysts revealed Dobaaraa’s box office collection
Dobaaraa was earlier premiered at the London Indian Film Festival 2022 on June 23, and it opened in theatres on Friday. The film received decent reviews from critics but failed to engage audiences. The box office figures for the mystery drama film’s first day have finally arrived.
Taran Adarsh, an Indian critic and trade analyst, revealed the box office figures on his Twitter account. The tweet read, “#DoBaaraa opens to better numbers than expected… In fact, much better than # Taapsee’s previous film #ShabaashMithu… Picked up at select premium multiplexes towards evening/night shows… Fri ₹ 72 lacs [370 screens]. #India biz.” According to box office stats, On the first day of its release, Dobaaraa earned ₹ 72 lakhs at the box office.
Given the box office numbers, the film faces a difficult road in the coming weekends. The next week also sees the release of Liger, a sports-action film starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, which may have an impact on Dobaaraa’s box office collection.
On Friday, film trade analyst and critic Sumit Kadel also posted the film’s occupancy update on his Twitter handle. The tweet read, “#Dobaaraa is off to a DISASTROUS start at the box office, film is registering merely 2-3% occupancy while many early shows are getting canceled due to NO AUDIENCE.”
As per the reports, Dobaaraa opened to the theatres with 2-3 per cent occupancy on its first day. The mystery drama film currently has 3.1/10 IMDB ratings.
