INDIA: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) recently conducted a search operation at a Dehradun-based real estate firm and subsequently arrested the woman Director of the firm, Shefali Rajpal Walia, on charges of duping flat buyers.

She was apprehended in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on September 22, and remanded to judicial custody by a Special Court in Dehradun.

Additionally, the ED has attached properties worth Rs 31.15 crore belonging to the firm under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

The ED’s investigation was initiated based on an FIR registered by the Rajpur Police Station in Dehradun against the real estate company “Pushpanjali Realms and Infratech Limited,” its Directors, and others.

They were charged with various sections of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and duping flat buyers who had made advance payments for booking flats in the company’s construction projects.

During the course of the ED’s investigation, it was discovered that the advance booking amounts received from flat buyers had been diverted by the company’s directors to purchase properties in their names and those of their family members.

The ED attached the total proceeds of crime in the form of immovable assets, and this attachment was confirmed by the Adjudicating Authority.

In addition to the above, charges of duping flat buyers have been registered against other Directors of the company at Rajpur and Dalanwala police stations.

Moreover, Deepak Mittal, the owner of “Pushpanjali Realms and Infratech Limited,” along with his wife Rakhi Mittal, is also facing charges of collecting crores of rupees from flat buyers by making false promises.

Both Deepak and Rakhi Mittal are currently absconding, and the police have announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to their apprehension.

Deepak Mittal had launched three housing projects, including Archid Park near Sahasradhara Helipad, Eminemt Heights, and Upscale Living in the Dalanwala area. However, construction work on these projects had not commenced, leaving investors in a precarious situation.
