BELGIUM: In a devastating turn of events, 18-year-old racing talent Dilano van ‘t Hoff has tragically passed away following a multi-car crash at Spa-Francorchamps.

The Formula Regional by Alpine driver and 2021 Spanish F4 Champion lost his life during the second race of the event in treacherous wet conditions on the Kemmel Straight.

The championship organizers of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine released a statement confirming the heartbreaking news. 

The fatal accident evoked memories of a similar tragedy during the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix, where Formula 2 racer Anthoine Hubert lost his life in an accident at the preceding corner on the circuit. The motorsport community is again left mourning the loss of promising young talent.

Van ‘t Hoff debuted in single-seater racing in 2021, finishing as the runner-up to Enzo Trulli in the Formula 4 UAE winter series. However, he quickly rebounded the following year, dominating the Spanish F4 series. 

With his sights set on reaching the pinnacle of motorsport, he transitioned to the Formula Regional by Alpine championship, remaining with the MP Motorsport team that had supported him in his F4 title-winning campaign.

The Royal Automobile Club of Belgium, the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, and the SRO Motorsports Group also joined Alpine and the Automobile Club of Italy in extending their sincerest condolences to Van ‘t Hoff’s family, team, and friends. 

The loss of such a talented and promising young driver is a devastating blow to the motorsport world, reminding everyone of the inherent risks and dangers involved in the pursuit of this exhilarating sport.

The tragic passing of Dilano van ‘t Hoff serves as a sombre reminder of the importance of safety in motorsport and the need for constant vigilance to prevent such heartbreaking accidents.
