INDIA: BJP workers initiated a protest outside the AAP office against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his alleged involvement in the liquor scam.

BJP staged protest outside AAP HQ

BJP held a protest after the former bureaucrat questioned the Enforcement Directorate’s supplementary charge sheet in the excise scam case. According to the saffron party, this act by Kejriwal gave a clear hint of his active participation in corruption. Thus, the BJP asked the Delhi CM to submit his resignation from his current post.

As per reports, The Aam Aadmi Party’s Goa chief Amit Palekar called the Enforcement Directorate’s supplementary chargesheet in the alleged Delhi excise scam and created unnecessary hurdles on the way of investigation.

Reports suggested that a portion of the money collected through the alleged scam was utilised to fund AAP’s campaign last year prior to the Goa Assembly elections. However, Palekar affirmed that all candidates had provided the Election Commission with their poll-related accounts. He asserted that the charges were bogus.

The Goa Chief counter-attacked the central probe agency and said that ED was acting like a “stooge” of the central government. He also stated that the Aam Aadmi Party had a massive victory in the state of Punjab polls last year, and these attempts are made just to defame them.

Adding more, he said, “In fact, the ED should look into the type of funding the BJP used for the Goa elections. They should look into the source of the funds used to purchase eight Congress party MLAs.”

Taking a direct dig at the BJP, he said he wants to bring Goa BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade for a debate on “corruption” and “corrupt practices” in the state.

BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi, during a press conference, attacked CM Arvind Kejriwal by saying, “Anyone who questions the ED is questioning the Supreme Court. The judiciary has maintained that the ED’s responsibility is to reduce corruption in the nation.”

“It is becoming apparent from the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) questioning of the ED that Arvind Kejriwal supports people who encourage corruption. Kejriwal does not desire an end to corruption in the nation,” she concluded.
