NIGERIA. Abuja: The Deputy Corps Marshal, DCM Dauda Biu, has been appointed as the Acting Corp Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) as the incumbent head of the agency Boboye Oyeyemi elapsed during his second tenure in office.
Speaking on behalf of the President Mohammadu Buhari, during the handing-over ceremony in FRSC Headquarters Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha revealed Biu will take over in an acting capacity from Oyeyemi pending the appointment of a substantive corps marshal.
In his farewell message, Oyeyemi tips the acting Biu to build on his eight-year legacy and achievement to move the agency forward.
No leader does anything alone. It is a formidable team of selfless and dutiful officers across all ranks that has contributed to the transformative achievements of over 34 years of existence of the corps. Oyeyemi has said.
Oyeyemi further disclosed that the success behind his eight years reign was because he maintained and followed the footsteps of his predecessors. To execute many landmark projects, laudable initiatives started by the past administration.
I am sure I will leave behind an agency that would do better than I have done by continuing to do more in time of excellent service delivery to Nigerians.
Road safety management has become a priority on the agenda of the current administration, following through sustainability efforts of past governments, as far back as the pre-1988 period when Nigeria’s road safety profile was unpleasant because of road carnage and absence of a coordinated system on road safety. We resolved to alter the narrative for the better, Oyeyemi disclosed.
Also speaking, the new ACM, Biu appreciated the management of the FRSC and the presidency for the appointment and pledged to justify the appointment.
Who is DCM Dauda Biu?
Until his appointment, Dauda Biu was the Deputy Corps Marshal, Finance Accounts at the FRSC FRSC Headquarters, Abuja.
Biu joined FRSC in 1988. He holds a Masters’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Ahmadu Bello University and was the Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) in Finance and Accounts in 2014 before becoming the DCM in 2016.
