Daniel Sams Stellar Batting Performance Helped Sydney Thunder Defeat Melbourne Renegades

AUSTRALIA: Magnificent half-centuries by Daniel Sams and Alex Hales helped Sydney Thunder beat Melbourne Renegades by 129 runs. After winning this match by a huge margin, Sydney Thunder is now on the second spot in the Big Bash League Points Table. After winning this match Sydney Thunder is riding on a 5-match winning streak.

In this match after winning the toss, Melbourne Renegades decided to bowl first. Sydney Thunder lost their first wicket in the 2nd over as Zak Evans removed Matthew Gilkes (10) and Sydney Thunder was 12/1 after 1.4 overs.

After the fall of the first wicket, Jason Sangha joined Alex Hales in the middle. Alex Hales played a blazing inning. He was playing at a strike rate of 200+ and he was looking in great touch. Alex Hales stitched up a 66 runs partnership with Jason Sangha.

Will Sutherland got rid of Jason Sangha with a peach of a delivery. Sangha got out after scoring 21 runs off 23 deliveries and Sydney Thunder was 78/2 after 8.2 overs. Daniel Sams was promoted up in the batting order and he joined Alex Hales in the middle.

Alex Hales brought up his half-century with a massive six. Alex Hales scored 63 runs off just 28 deliveries which included 3 fours and 5 sixes.

After Alex Hales got out it was all about just one man “Daniel Sams”. Daniel Sams single-handedly destroyed the Renegades bowling lineup. Wickets kept falling from the other end but still, Daniel Sams was just dealing in boundaries and mighty sixes.

Daniel Sams brought up his half-century off just 25 deliveries. This was Daniel Sams 3rd Big Bash League half-century. Daniel Sams scored an unbeaten 98 runs off just 44 deliveries which included 7 fours and 8 humongous sixes. Daniel Sams innings helped Sydney Thunder post an enormous total of 209/7 after the completion of 20 overs.

For Melbourne Renegades, Kane Richardson took 2 wickets while Zak Evans, Zahir Khan, Nic Maddinson, and Will Sutherland picked up 1 wicket each.

Melbourne Renegades never looked in the game as they lost their opening batsman Sam Harper (4) in the second over of the match and Renegades were 5/1 after 1.3 overs.

Aaron Finch was then joined by Shaun Marsh. They both put up a 22 runs partnership but just as things were looking a bit better for the Melbourne Renegades, Shaun Marsh (8) got run out and Renegades were 27/2 after 3.2 overs.

Sydney Thunder bowlers were completely dominating the Melbourne Renegades batting lineup. After Shaun Marsh, Melbourne Renegades lost two more wickets in the form of Nic Maddinson (1) and Mackenzie Harvey (2). Melbourne Renegades were struggling at 32/4 after 4.4 overs.

Aaron Finch smashed 2 sixes and was the only batsman who was looking a bit settled but he also got out after scoring 17 runs off 12 deliveries and Renegades was 46/6 after 6.5 overs.

Melbourne Renegades lost the match by a huge margin

Sydney Thunder was all over the Melbourne Renegades. James Seymour and Kane Richardson stitched up a 32 runs partnership but as soon as Kane Richardson (17) got out, Renegades also lost James Seymour who scored 25 runs off 23 deliveries which included 3 fours, and soon after that Melbourne Renegades got bundled out for 80 runs in 14.2 overs. Melbourne Renegades lost their last 4 wickets for just 2 runs.

Sydney Thunder won the match by 129 runs. For Thunder, Mohammad Hasnain took 3 wickets, Gurinder Sandhu and Tanveer Sangha took 2 wickets each whereas Nathan McAndrew and Daniel Sams took 1 wicket each.
