JAPAN: CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 remains the most anticipated game, but the title received mixed reviews from gamers after its release. However, it appears that the game’s player count has risen to 1 million in recent days, owing to Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime.

Cyberpunk 2077 chronicles the first-person perspective action-role-playing game, which allows gamers to explore the infamous Night City. The game, developed by CD Projekt Red (best known for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), received a lot of praise upon its announcement for bringing the open-world gaming genre to a cyberpunk-themed title. The game was released in 2020 and is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia.

The Cyberpunk 2077 official Twitter handle announced the news. The tweet read, “Each day of this week Night City has been visited by 1 million players, both new and returning. We wanted to use this opportunity to thank you for being with us and playing the game. Thanks, Chooms!”

According to the tweet, Cyberpunk 2077 witnessed a massive increase in its player base by 1 million that too on each day of this week. The game appears to be heavily influenced by the recently released Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The series received widespread critical acclaim, and audiences embraced the R-rated theme of the concept.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners globally debuted with its September 13, 2022, release on Netflix. The ten-episode anime series continues to rule the fans, skyrocketing the game’s overall player count. The anime profoundly impacts both anime fans and gamers, which appears to be an extremely positive factor for the venture.

When Cyberpunk 2077 was announced, it generated a lot of buzz, but it fell short of expectations due to numerous glitches and errors during gameplay. Multiple updates were previously released in response to the title’s various issues. However, a major patch update 1.6 was released concurrently with the anime series, which could be another contributing factor to the rise in player numbers.
