NIGERIA: 1,289,773 Nigerians have been vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine across Nigeria as of May 6th.
This makes 64.1 per cent of the targeted eligible population for the first phase vaccinated.
The details of the vaccination were contained in the COVID-19 vaccination update by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA).

The states with the highest number of the population vaccinated include Lagos state with 237,856 people vaccinated, the Nation’s capital city Abuja with 82,117, Kaduna stage with 66,875, Ogun state with 60,243 and Oyo state with 48,224 people vaccinated.
The States with the lowest number is population vaccinated include Bayelsa State with 11,123 people, Ebonyi state with 11,994, Taraba state with 12,496 and Kogi state with 12,857.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has said that in addition to health workers, frontline workers aged 18 years and above and persons aged 50 and above are advised to visit the designated vaccination sites to receive the vaccines free of charge.
In a bid to eradicate the fear and vaccine hesitancy trailing the COVID-19 vaccines, the Agency has been holding town hall meetings across the regions of the country.
