NIGERIA. Abuja: The Nigerian government has expressed sadness over the frustration of its citizens while visiting the United Kingdom (UK) over the travel protocols imposed on them about the COVID-19 vaccination.
Speaking during the COVID-19 committee briefing, the Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib disclosed that Nigerians are made to do more COVID-19 tests and quarantined despite the fact that they had already been vaccinated.
He started that the Nigeria government is aware of these difficulties faced by its nationals in the UK.
Shuibu, therefore, attributed the ill-treatment of Nigerians regarding the vaccination in the UK to the people who continue spreading rumours about the authenticity of the vaccination campaigns in Nigeria describing them as “carriers of misinformation and disinformation.”

“Many people had viewed the UK’s policy to mean its rejection of the vaccination campaign in the country, and this casts doubt on the standards of the vaccines administered.
“On the 25th September 2021, the British High Commission in Abuja made a statement about this matter which vividly states that the vaccines administered in Nigeria are recognized and approved by their regulatory bodies. He also said that come October 4th, 2021, they would be simplifying their classification process to ‘red list’ and ‘rest of the World.
“Nigeria would be moving from ‘Amber’ to the ‘rest of the World list’. This means that the present vaccination process in Nigeria is generally accepted. Please let us not let the enemies of this country prevent us from deciding to protect ourselves, and in safeguarding our country Nigeria.

“For people that have been vaccinated, it is now their responsibility to ensure that their loved ones, friends and community are also protected from this virus by encouraging them to get vaccinated”, Shuaibu advised.
