INDIA: A three-day conclave of Congress’ 85th plenary session will begin today with the opening speech of party President Mallikarjun Kharge. According to a report, the large-scale meeting would be attended by around 15,000 delegates.
The present Congress president, alongside ex-AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, will address leaders in Raipur. The key discussion will focus on political, economic, and international affairs, and resolutions will be made after the plenary session.
Reportedly, Kharge will release a book, and other party general secretaries will be directed to submit their respective reports, keeping all the factors in mind. Following that, a “thanksgiving” statement for Sonia Gandhi will also be read out, after which she will address the session.
In the Congress Working Committee, the party will shed light on the Constitutional resolution to provide proper representation to SCs, STs, OBCs, other minorities such as women, and those under the age of 50.
Kharge, taking a dig at the saffron party, said, “BJP is destroying every democratic institution for the sake of political gain. At an all-time high, inflation is everywhere in this nation.”
“Everything in this nation is being sold to our PM’s friend. BJP made numerous attempts to halt this plenary session. Raids were done, our leaders were jailed, but despite all odds, this session is happening,” the veteran politician continued.
The entire conclave is a backdrop to the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was completed by Rahul Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi acknowledged the session and said, “Our triumphs in 2004 and 2009, coupled with Dr. Manmohan Singh’s capable leadership, gave me personally delight, but what pleases me most is that my innings could end with the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a pivotal event for the Congress.”
Further, she directly slammed BJP by saying, “Congress and the nation face difficulties at this time. Every institution in the nation has been taken over and undermined by the BJP-RSS. By favouring a few businessmen, it has brought about an economic catastrophe.”
