INDIA. Mumbai: Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Karambir Singh, visited Western Naval Command (WNC), Mumbai on Wednesday and Thursday and held meetings with officers, and took stock of various activities carried out by WNC.
The Admiral was received by Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command at the Command Headquarters in South Mumbai. He was briefed about various activities and operational readiness of the Command. The CNS also participated in the Monsoon Manthan series of training and war games in Maritime Warfare Centre, Defence Spokesman Commander Mehul Karnik stated.
The CNS had earlier visited Western Naval Command in August 2019. During that visit, he had gone on board the submarine INS Kalveri, visited the new dry dock at Naval Dockyard, and had visited units at Naval station Karanja in Uran in Raigad district.
Maritime Partnership Exercise with Spanish Navy
In another development, INS Tabar while en route to port city Brest, France, undertook a maritime partnership exercise at sea with the aircraft of the Spanish Navy on July 08, near Cape Trafalgar soon after crossing the Straits of Gibraltar. A Cessna Citation Maritime Patrol Aircraft and a Sea King (SH-3D) helicopter operating from Rota Naval Base of the Spanish Navy participated in the exercise.
A wide range of operations like Air Defence, Air Picture Compilation, vertical replenishment, and cross deck operation was exercised by the ship. The exercise was mutually beneficial in enhancing interoperability and consolidating combined operations against maritime threats.
