Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan Visits Mumbai, Pune

CDS is expected to visit all the 18 military commands to pass on a message that military theatre commands is an irreversible process

INDIA. Mumbai: General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), visited Headquarters, Western Naval Command, and interacted with Vice Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, on Friday.

He was briefed on the role, responsibilities, and operational preparedness of the Western Naval Command and the measures instituted to safeguard the Western seaboard.

CDS addressed and interacted with the senior officers of the three services in Mumbai, including officers from the Indian Army, Headquarters, Maharashtra, Goa, and Gujarat areas, and the Indian Air Force, Headquarters, Maritime Air Operations, Mumbai.

General Anil Chauhan guided the Armed Forces to be Ready, Resurgent, and Relevant in the current era. He also discussed the way ahead on joint manship, integration, theaterisation, and the crucial role of Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance).

The CDS also visited the latest frontline destroyer, INS Mormugao, the submarine INS Vela, and the facilities at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. He was also familiarised with the progress in naval shipbuilding and indigenisation during his visit to Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in South Mumbai.

Army Command Headquarters

On Saturday, Gen. Chauhan visited the Southern Army Command headquarters in Pune. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed the Indian military commanders to push for integration and operational synergy on April 1 at the Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Gen. Chauhan has decided to personally convey the PM’s message as part of major military transformative changes by visiting all 18 military commands in the country to make it clear that military theatre commands are an irreversible process on the path of military transformation.

Earlier, Gen. Chauhan had visited the Eastern Army Command in Kolkata (West Bengal) and the Central Army Command in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) in the first week of the current month while reviewing military preparedness in the sensitive Siliguri corridor and at the Hashimara air base, which houses the latest French Rafale fighters. Gen. Chauhan is also reviewing the military preparedness of the Indian armed forces in the context of rising Chinese skirmishes on land borders as well as in the Indian Ocean.
