UNITED STATES: Bryan Randall, Sandra Bullock’s longtime partner, passed away over the weekend, as his family confirmed in a statement on Monday. “It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS. Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honour his request,” his family conveyed.
“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,” the statement added.
“At this time, we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan”, the family’s statement concluded, signed “His Loving Family.”
Bullock, aged 59, initially met Bryan Randall, a model turned photographer, when he captured pictures of her son Louis’s birthday in January 2015. Sandra and Bryan had mostly kept their relationship private, but in December 2021, Sandra appeared on “Red Table Talk” and declared that she had “found the love of my life” in him.
“We share two beautiful children—three children, [Randall’s] older daughter. It’s the best thing ever,” said Sandra. She had adopted a son, Louis, aged 13, and a daughter, Laila, aged 10. Bryan also had a daughter named Skylar Staten Randall from a previous relationship.
According to sources, Bryan and Sandra may have split up before his passing because they hadn’t been spotted together in public for a while. Sandra and Bryan, however, never confirmed this.
Bryan’s family has requested that contributions to honour him be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital and the ALS Association.
About ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease in honour of the renowned New York baseball player who succumbed to it, is a relentless ailment lacking a cure.
This condition originates from the degeneration of nerve cells within the brain and spinal cord, which govern the voluntary control of muscular functions.
Initial manifestations often include muscle twitches, limb weakness, difficulty swallowing, and speech impairment. However, its advancement profoundly disrupts mobility, communication, and even respiration.
Tragically, the majority of those diagnosed with ALS pass away within a span of two years. Although some instances are hereditary, the precise cause of this disease remains elusive. ALS stands as the most prevalent manifestation of motor neuron disease (MND).
