UNITED STATES: Britney Spears has broken her silence following her husband Sam Asghari’s announcement about their separation, stating she “couldn’t take the pain anymore”.
On Wednesday, Asghari, aged 29, submitted a divorce petition in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The documents state that he is requesting spousal support and the payment of legal fees to be covered by Spears.
Spears, 41, stated she was “a little shocked” that her six-year-long relationship with Asghari had ended. Talking about their breakup in an Instagram post, the singer stated, “I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business.”
“I’ve been playing it strong for way too long, and my Instagram may seem perfect, but it’s far from reality, and I think we all know that,” she further added. “I would love to show my emotions and tears and how I really feel, but for some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses,” her statement continued.
Spears stated that she would be “as strong as I can” and that she was “actually doing pretty damn good”. Asghari, an Iranian-American actor, model, and fitness trainer, crossed paths with Ms. Spears during the filming of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016.
He strongly advocated for her campaign to terminate her father’s conservatorship, which she successfully concluded shortly before they got married. The pair got engaged in September 2021 and exchanged vows in a small ceremony this past June. Reports of their marital difficulties surfaced in US tabloids this year. The couple was spotted in public without their wedding rings on.
In a recent Instagram post, Asghari wrote, “After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.” “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always.” He added: “Asking for privacy seems ridiculous, so I will just ask for everyone, including the media, to be kind and thoughtful,” the post continued.
