SCOTLAND: In the course of searching for Kyle Sambrook, who vanished last week in the Scottish Highlands, authorities have discovered the bodies of a man and a dog. The 33-year-old, who had travelled from his residence in West Yorkshire to go hillwalking, was last seen with his beagle, named Bane, in the Lost Valley region of Glen Coe on Sunday.

Mountain rescue teams and the coast guard discovered the corpses of a man and a dog on Saturday afternoon, according to Police Scotland.

In a release, the police stated, “Formal identification has yet to take place, however, the family of missing man Kyle Sambrook has been informed. They wish to thank all involved in the search and have requested their privacy be respected. Our thoughts are with Kyle’s family as we support them at this difficult time.” The force noted that there didn’t seem to be any suspicious circumstances.

Sambrook left his house on Saturday, February 18 to hike and camp in Glencoe. He got there around 3:30 that same day.

After he failed to arrive home on Tuesday as scheduled and had not made contact with family or friends since landing in Scotland, worries were raised about his welfare. On Sunday around noon, he and his dog were last seen in the Lost Valley region.

According to the police, Sambrook has dressed appropriately for travelling and is thought to be carrying a tent and other gear. He was rumoured to have intended to climb Buachaille Etive Mr, a 3,353-foot (1,022-meter) peak, during his journey.

Later, his black Peugeot 208 was discovered in Glencoe’s Three Sisters parking lot. During the week-long search for Sambrook, people from the Lochaber, Oban, Arran, and RAF Leeming mountain rescue teams, the Search and Rescue Dog Association, and the Inverness coastguard helicopter all helped.
