UNITED STATES: Ridley Scott’s visionary sci-fi feature, Blade Runner, is arriving for its third instalment. Amazon Prime Video will bring the cyberpunk masterpiece to the live-action series format.
The upcoming sci-fi series is also ready with a title, “Blade Runner 2099”. The show will continue the storyline from its predecessor, Blade Runner 2049. Earlier, more updates were circulating about the movie, and now the title and the members joining the team are also revealed.
Ridley Scott will join the team as an executive producer. Silka Lusia, known for Shining Girls, is also confirmed as the showrunner. The co-writer of Blade Runner 2049, Michael Green, will also serve as the executive producer of the upcoming series.

Ridley Scott’s directorial Blade Runner (1982) served as a phenomenal sci-fi feature that is also believed to be the foundation of the cyberpunk genre. The film starred Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, and Sean Young in the lead roles. With its ground-breaking concept, the film, even today, remains one of the best movies among sci-fi buffs.
Despite having an excellent concept and being regarded as one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time, Blade Runner (1982) failed to make a profit. A sequel to the original film, titled Blade Runner 2049, was also released in 2017. The Denis Villeneuve directorial sequel marked the return of Harrison Ford. Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas also starred in the lead. The sci-fi feature bagged high praise from critics and audiences, but still, the film underperformed at the box office.
Now, Blade Runner 2099 will land as the third instalment in the franchise. The upcoming continuation of the popular sci-fi universe will debut in a live-action series format. Amazon Prime Video will develop the sci-fi show. The news has been circulating regarding the third part, with Ridley Scott confirming it in February 2022.
Besides the team members and title, the makers of Blade Runner 2099 have yet to reveal more information about the upcoming sci-fi feature.
