INDIA: The Bihar Ram Navami procession, which took the shape of violence, was well-planned, said the Bihar police. As per Jitendra Singh Gawar, ADG, Headquarters, a Bajrang Dal convener of the Nalanda district has surrendered for planting the violence over WhatsApp.
A group of as many as 457 people was formed on WhatsApp ahead of the Ram Navami to pre-plan the execution of the violence. This entire incident gave rise to political confrontation.
The alleged Bajrang Dal leader is identified as Kundan Kumar, who surrendered himself after the administration began to attach his properties. Kumar was the one amongst the admin of the group, whereas the other admin of the group, Kishan Kumar, has also surrendered.
Gawar, in his statement, said, “In the WhatsApp group, a conspiracy was plotted to spread violence and fake and misleading posts targeting one community were shared. The Economic Offenses Research Team is investigating this separate FIR that has been filed.”
As per the police, a case has been registered against the 15 people in connection with Nalanda’s communal clashes. Five of them have already been arrested, and others have surrendered themself to the authority.
This entire incident has triggered public sentiments and aroused them to boil in rage and anger. Several parts of Bihar, like Nalanda and Rohtas districts, witnessed incidents of inter-regional clashes and vandalisation last week during Ram Navami celebrations, which went on for several days.
BJP has blamed and criticised the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar over their loopholes and loose grip upon the incidents of violence. The central ruling party has also accused them of indulging in “appeasement politics” to get minority votes.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, “Communal tensions during Ram Navami festivities at Sasaram and Bihar Sharif are disturbing. Such incidents happened for the first time in the area. It’s not natural.”
