SOUTH KOREA: BIGBANG’s G-Dragon was reportedly booked for investigation for alleged drug use, according to media reports. As per sources, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency detained the K-pop idol on suspicion of using illegal narcotics. The police uncovered solid evidence against G-Dragon after their inquiry into actor Lee Sun-kyun, known for his role in the movie “Parasite.”

YG Entertainment releases a statement

The rapper’s previous label, YG Entertainment, said that they “were looking into the report and were not aware of G-Dragon’s investigation of drug use charges.”

Nevertheless, the agency sent a statement a few hours later stating that the rapper is not signed to their organisation at this time. It stated, “It is difficult to publicly respond as the artist is currently not signed with the label.” The agreement between YG Entertainment and G-Dragon ended in June.

However, the label stated that they were engaged in discussions with the artist regarding multiple options, including partial contracts. It appears that G-Dragon declined their offer, as the agency has now formally distanced itself from the rapper in their latest statement.

G-Dragon’s previous run-in with the law

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time G-Dragon has faced scrutiny regarding his association with drugs. Back in 2011, the BIGBANG leader was subjected to an investigation related to marijuana usage in Japan. In his statement, the rapper claimed that a stranger had offered him marijuana, which appeared like a regular cigarette.

He went on to explain that he had only smoked a small amount and noticed a distinct odour. The K-pop idol’s case was considered, and his sentence was suspended due to his status as a first-time offender and the fact that he didn’t smoke frequently. Subsequently, he openly expressed remorse during an appearance on Healing Camp.
