INDIA. West Bengal: Popular Tollywood actor Ananya Chatterjee, who gained popularity for her role in “Parvarti Sangbad Poonada Dootara Saath”, breathed her last on Friday.
The actress was ailing from a lung infection and thus treated for the same.
The sad news of her demise was shared by Joyjit Bannerjee on social media. As soon the news was out, her fans and friends from the industry paid her heartfelt tributes.
Director Anandita Sarbadhikari took to Twitter and expressed her grief by writing, “Ananya Di is no more. I can’t even imagine. Just missing the smiling face….”
Actress Srilekha Mitra who essayed the role of Ananya’s daughter in the Bengali sitcom ‘Aei To Jeevan’, offered her condolences to the late actor.
The gem of an actor received a National Award for her performance in the film ‘Abohoman’. Ananya Chatterjee commenced her career by doing roles in daily soaps. She was even a mainstream character in the well-known Bengali television series ‘Subarnolata’, released on Zee Bangla.
The actress was widely known for portraying different characters. She has never been to any professional acting institution but ruled in the hearts of her fans. The actress gradually took baby steps and aced her acting career, featuring in daily soaps to taking the lead in the film.
It wouldn’t be wrong to describe her lifestyle as “king-size.” The veteran actress has played prominent roles in telefilms, movies and daily soaps. She was also active in theatre. ‘Poroborti Sambad Dupur Dutor Pore’, a telefilm featuring Ananya in a prominent role was highly appreciated by the viewers and critics. It received awards as well.
