SPAIN: In an exclusive interview with TCT, beauty contest participant Rosa Maria Iglesias Barandela talks about willpower’s impact on life goals. She narrates her life journey, and the multitude of opportunities life has offered her.
Rosa explains the importance of willpower
Life could be made much more scintillating with a constant endeavour to reach for the stars and triumph in all aspects with the right motivation and optimism. Rosa Barandela narrates a similar story of the excessive effect of having willpower in achieving your goals.
Rosa, on a fine day in May 2016, had decided to do something fanciful in life to escape the harsh reality that she states “would definitely and forever turn off the light of someone l loved. Love since childhood”.
Due to the odd circumstances in her life, she decided to participate in a beauty contest for the first time. She got a lot of opportunities that assisted her in having a form of direction and clarity in life. She realised that the key to a happy life is trying your luck in something that interests you.
She mentions, “Princess dresses, queen crowns, talent tests, seeing you beautiful, and laughing that is so necessary.” In this manner, Rosa created a world of endless possibilities in which she “took refuge and had fun.”
Rosa says that she has invariably been a restless person with a strong willingness to learn. She had to leave the comfort of her home and her family to pursue her dream career. She realised there has to be something to look forward to in a new city for the lacking things.
She says, “At the beginning, I was taking my university studies, working in the mornings and studying in the afternoons. Later sports occupied a large part of my free time.” Much later, Rosa says that people realise that everything that you do is for society, with very little self-fulfilment that is necessary for life.
She mentions, “You realise one day that you need to do something you enjoy and motivate yourself. You must laugh, enjoy, and be free with your own time in order to escape.”
Rosa adored fashion and beauty contests that she used to watch on television, and she dedicatedly followed each one of them until, one day, she decided to introduce herself. She says that she uses her vacations and off days from the office to cater to these beauty pageants that generally take one week, where they indulge in many activities and know more about the country that hosts them.
She mentions, “l am always the one who constantly reinvents myself. I think that everyone (some before, and others after) have ghosts from which they need to flee.”
In narrating her life story, she considers the need to “innovate” to stop herself from easily being bored. Motivation is essential in a person’s life. It gives them the optimism to look at a glass not half empty but half full.
Rosa explains how she gets an excellent sense of accomplishment after completing a photo session that requires much hard work and effort. She adds, “And you think “I’m the one here” or having your photos published in international magazines no l know how to explain it to you!”
In a final message to the readers, Rosa mentions that living a life with utmost enjoyment is essential.
She infers, “Life is not static, as something unexpected can happen at any time. Therefore, do not be afraid, and break those barriers that prevent you from doing what you are passionate about. Live life actively in the first person, being yourself the protagonist and not observing the lives of others where you are a mere spectator!”
