INDIA. Mumbai: Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of the Naval Staff of the Bangladesh Navy, along with Nadia Sultana, President of the Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association, visited Mumbai from Thursday to Saturday.
During his visit, Admiral M Nazmul Hassan held discussions with Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command (WNC). Their talks revolved around mutual interests, particularly increased cooperation in maritime operations, training, and infrastructure development. Admiral Hassan also received an overview of WNC’s operational capabilities, responsibilities, and activities.
Admiral Hassan visited several indigenously built vessels, including the Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel INS Sunayna, the guided missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam, and the Kalvari class attack submarine INS Khanderi.
At the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, Admiral Hassan met with Rear Admiral DK Goswami, Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard (Mumbai), to discuss matters related to maintenance, repair, and refit capabilities. He was provided with insights into the state-of-the-art Aircraft Carrier Dock and other specialized repair and maintenance facilities.
Nadia Sultana, during her visit, interacted with Shashi Tripathi, President of the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA) in the Western Region. She received an overview of NWWA’s activities benefiting the community and also visited the “Tarsh” block printing unit and NWWA retail outlet “Samudri.”
India and Bangladesh, sharing a common history, culture, and geography, are committed to enhancing maritime security in the region and fostering development and prosperity. This visit strengthens bilateral cooperation in the maritime domain, as stated in an official statement.
