Apple Introduces 5G to iPhone Beta Users in India

INDIA: A beta update for select iPhone users in India will be released by Apple, enabling Jio and Airtel 5G services in cities with the next-generation networks.

Before Apple releases an official software update in December that introduces 5G to millions of iPhone users, the beta update will assist the company in collecting early feedback regarding the proficiency of the network and resolving issues.

The wireless technology of the next generation, known as 5G, is anticipated to alter how people live and work. It opens up new applications like cloud gaming with its promise of faster download speeds and low latency.

The most rapid wireless technology currently available to most people is 4G LTE.

By downloading the iOS 16.2 beta update, iPhone owners can test out 5G services, but they must sign up for the beta on the Apple website. However, even if an iPhone user downloads the iOS 16.2 beta software update, not everyone can use 5G.To get early access to 5G, you need one of the following iPhone models: the iPhone 14, the iPhone 13, the iPhone 12, or the iPhone SE.

Users must sign up for the beta software program before downloading the iOS 16.2 beta update. To begin, the user has to visit the Apple Beta Software Program website and select the sign-up option. Then, the user has to log in with their Apple ID.

After that, the user is taken to a page with the title Guide for Public Betas. Near the top of the screen, the user has to select the link for the operating system they want to install, i.e., iOS 16.2 beta.

One advantage of installing beta software on your Apple device is the opportunity to test out new features before the general public. Users in the beta phase also help refine software updates before release to a broader audience.

At the October India Mobile Congress event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced 5G services. Jio’s 5G services beta testing has already begun in four Indian cities.

Bharti Airtel, Jio’s rival, serves eight cities with high-speed 5G connectivity. By the end of the year, both telecom providers intend to expand the service throughout India. Another big operator, Vodafone, hasn’t revealed its plans to offer 5G services in the country.

Marini Leads Valencia 2023 MotoGP Pre-season Test Timing Sheets as Ducati’s Bastianini Crashes

0

SPAIN: The MotoGP paddock assembled at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, kicking off the 2023 MotoGP campaign. The riders and the teams got the new season underway with the pre-season testing just two days after the end of the 2022 season.

At 9:30 a.m. local time, Michele Pirro, the test rider for Ducati, took the first ride on the newly crowned MotoGP world champion Francesco Bagnaia’s bike during the eight-hour session.

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo was the first full-time rider on the track on Tuesday. He tried a new engine, chassis, and aerodynamic fairing, among other things.

Maverick Vinales of Aprilia finished the first hour of the pre-season testing as the fastest rider with a time of 1m 30.715s. He led Marc Marquez of Honda by 0.498 seconds.

Marquez had a choice of three RC213Vs to ride. One was the bike with 2022 specs, and two prototypes for 2023. Interestingly, he decided against running soft tyre time attack runs.

Pramac’s Jorge Martin led the way at the end of hour two with a 1m 30.576s before Vinales got back to the top of the time sheets with a 1m 30.325s before the end of hour three.

Luca Marini riding his VR46 Ducati set the pace with a time of 1m 30.267s with two hours to go. In the final 90 minutes of the session, he improved that time to 1m 30.032s.

The time set by Marini remained unchallenged to the finish line, with Vinales 0.225s behind in second place and Marco Bezzecchi, riding the sister VR46 Ducati, completing the top three despite having stopped at Turn 1 earlier in the day due to a technical issue.

Miguel Oliveira, former rider for KTM, finished fourth on the RNF Aprilia, 0.335 seconds off the pace. He was the highest-placed rider who switched manufacturers in 2023.

On the second Aprilia, Aleix Espargaro finished fifth, with Fabio Di Giannantonio moving up to sixth on his Gresini Ducati late in the session, ahead of KTM’s Brad Binder, Pramac’s Martin, and Quartararo.

On his first official MotoGP session as a factory Ducati team rider, Bastianini finished in the top 10, but in the final two hours of the pre-season testing session, he was involved in a minor crash at Turn 6.

India vs England T20 World Cup Semi-final Preview: The Battle for White-ball Supremacy

0

AUSTRALIA: The Indian T20 squad, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and the watchful eyes of Head Coach Rahul Dravid, has resurrected from the dismal performance of the team in the previous T20 World Cup.

The team endured mixed fortunes in their Asia cup campaign as the bowling unit became a cropper in the death overs. The fortunes flipped once the “Men in Blue” landed in Australia.

Arshdeep Singh and Suryakumar Yadav added freshness to the game, and Virat Kohli’s class returned to its former glory in the nick of time to keep the team afloat when the going got rough.

The Indian juggernaut will face England in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval. The knockout match between the two cricket heavyweights is touted to be an explosive encounter. This is the first time in 35 years that India and England will face each other in a knockout game.

The Adelaide Oval is a spectacle to behold. The grandstand of the Adelaide Oval is a subtle mix of modern amenities alongside older architecture.

Located north of the city centre of the Southern Australian capital, the stadium is a three-fourth modern style mega-structure with bulbous white canopies, while the other quarter is a grass embankment with an old analogue scoreboard.

India won its last major ICC Trophy in 2013. This win incidentally came against England in a rain-truncated 20-over match. Ravichandran Ashwin, who is a member of the current squad had bowled the match-winning delivery before then captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni erupted in a rare display of on-field celebrations.

The England team led by Jos Buttler will be eyeing a victory in the semi-final. A win in Thursday’s match will see the team feature in a third final in five consecutive ICC championships.

The fickle nature of the shortest format of the game provides an equal opportunity for both teams to grab bragging rights. With a chance to lead the points T20 Team’s rankings, the Indian and English squads know the importance of winning the fixture.

The sun has been shining in Adelaide these past few days, and while the city did get a few showers on the day before the semi-final, it is expected to be dry on game day. It is anticipated that the semi-final will be played on the pitch that was utilized for the games between Australia v/s Afghanistan and New Zealand v/s Ireland in the last week.

An interesting snippet ahead of the game is that in 11 men’s T20Is so far at the Adelaide Oval, no team has won the match after winning the toss.

Oculus Creator Develops a “Mind-blowing” VR Headset that Kills Gamers if They Die in-game

UNITED STATES: In a blog post, Palmer Luckey, the inventor of the Oculus headset that is now the foundation of Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse plans, said that he is creating a virtual reality headset that can kill people in real life if they die in a game.

Oculus creator provided the details of VR headset

Palmer Luckey’s new invention takes the stakes of losing a game to another level.

The Oculus creator posted a blog titled “If you die in the game, you die in real life.” In the blog, he claims that the virtual reality (VR) headset known as “NerveGear,” which featured in the anime television series, Sword Art Online, inspired him to develop the lethal gaming device.

Luckey said that the idea of tying the gamer’s real life to their virtual avatar has always fascinated him. He felt so because it immediately raises the stakes and forces people to fundamentally rethink how they interact with the virtual world and its players.

In the anime series, if the players fail to escape a mad scientist’s trap, the players who wear this kind of headset will experience microwave-induced brain melt.

Things get a lot worse when it comes to Luckey’s new Oculus VR headset, which he claims uses charge modules to blow up a person’s head.

According to Luckey, in contrast to the fictional NerveGear, he was unable to create a device that could kill its user with “powerful microwaves,” so he chose explosives to blow their heads off.

The headset is real

Luckey said that the bad news is that he has only figured out the half that kills gamers. He asserts that the good news is that his team is halfway through the development of a real NerveGear. According to Luckey, “The perfect-VR half of the equation is still many years away.”

He adds that his Oculus VR headset makes it possible to experience a wide range of virtual reality experiences.

Indian Sailors Detained in Equatorial Guinea, Captain Requests Assistance from Government

0

INDIA: The Indian sailors of the Norwegian-flagged crude oil carrier MT Heroic Idun were apprehended in the waters of Equatorial Guinea in August and face uncertain futures.

The captain of the ill-fated ship appealed to the Indian Government, asking for assistance in releasing his sailors in a video of the incident. He mentioned that they are not being provided food or water in the detention centre.

In the video, the captain of the ship, called “Heroic Idun,” identifies himself as Tanuj Mehta. He said that the crew members of the ship were sent to the Malabo detention facility. He expressed uncertainty regarding his future and sailors, adding that they were not allowed outside.

While asking for help from the Indian Government, Captain Mehta adds that the condition has worsened aboard his ship. He asserts that anything could happen to the crew.

As per reports, sixteen Indian sailors will soon be handed over to the Nigerian government months after being in detention for nearly three months in Equatorial Guinea.

Following the sailors’ allegations of unlawful detention and coercion, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs is also working to rescue crew members. On the other hand, Nigeria has asserted that it will prosecute the sailors.

To free the MT Heroic Idun crew members, the Equatorial Guinea embassy and the High Commission in Nigeria are working closely with authorities in both countries. The mission in Equatorial Guinea tweeted that all crew members were safe and that the transfer of sailors from the Detention Center to the ship was ongoing.

The Indian sailors were part of a 26-member crew of the ship. The ship, crew members, and captain were illegally detained in Equatorial Guinea nearly three months ago. Out of the crew of 26, 16 sailors are Indians. The Equatorial Guinea Navy arrested the oil carrier at the instance of their Nigerian counterparts on August 12.

Another crew member onboard the detained ship, Sanu Jose, the tanker’s chief officer, also managed to have a video call with his wife, Metilda, on Tuesday. He showed the appalling living conditions of the sailors.

The sailors were locked up in a room without food and under heavy security. The crew consumed water from the washbasin.

According to Metilda, her husband is in an awful condition and has complained of chest pain over the past few days.

Lewis Hamilton Receives Brazilian Citizenship in the National Capital Brasilia

0

BRAZIL: At a ceremony in Brasilia, the nation’s capital, the government of Brazil conferred its official citizenship to Lewis Hamilton.

The discussions regarding awarding citizenship to the 7-time World Champion first surfaced after he won the Brazilian Grand Prix last year, his third victory at the track where he had won the Drivers’ Championship for the first time in 2008.

Congressman Andre Figueiredo suggested conferring citizenship to the Mercedes driver after Lewis Hamilton raised the Brazilian flag behind him as he celebrated on the podium, expressing his passion for the nation that was the home of his idol, Ayrton Senna.

Lewis Hamilton had previously joked that he was waiting for his passport after the news of his citizenship approval was confirmed. The decision was finalised a few days before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in June, earlier this year.

The Mercedes driver went to the Chamber of Deputies in Brazil to receive his honorary citizenship now that he is back in Brazil to race, with the penultimate round of the 2022 campaign taking place in Sao Paulo.

According to sources, Lewis Hamilton addressed the crowd at the ceremony, saying, “I feel like now I’m one of you.”

Lewis Hamilton, who has a record-breaking 103 Grands Prix victories to his name, looked dapper in a blue suit. He received a diploma and the Brazilian legislative medal of merit.

Hamilton also gave a speech in which he thanked his fans and dedicated the honour to Senna.

Hamilton said that Brazil is a special place for him. He mentioned his 2021 race win at the Interlagos circuit, saying that one of the most important experiences of his life was knowing that the people of Brazil would support him even under challenging circumstances.

Lewis Hamilton registered a come-from-behind victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix last year. After being disqualified from qualification and starting from the back of the grid due to rear-wing regulation failure, he made up 15 places in the sprint race. He took another 5-place grid penalty for a new engine.

He drove a beautifully controlled race and overtook Max Verstappen before winning the exhilarating Brazilian Grand Prix.

Tweaked Nvidia Chips Developed for China under US Export Laws

UNITED STATES: In order to keep cutting-edge technology out of Chinese hands, US chip maker Nvidia Corp has introduced an advanced chip in China that meets recent US export controls.

Numerous news portals recently reported that Chinese computer sellers are promoting products with the new chip. The company reacted to the reports issued by the media.

Nvidia responded to the report

A800 is the first chip reported to be developed for China by the US semiconductor company under the latest US trade rules. As a result of the export restrictions, the company may lose hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.

In early October, US regulations effectively banned Chinese chipmakers from exporting advanced microchips and equipment to produce advanced chips, a move designed to cripple China’s semiconductor industry.

Amid the threat of a trade war, Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices announced in late August that their advanced chips, including Nvidia’s A100 data centre chip, have been listed on the export control list by the US Commerce Department.

The Nvidia A800 replaces the A100. Advanced graphic processing chips can cost thousands of dollars per piece. Another alternative to the Nvidia A100 GPU for Chinese customers is the A800 GPU, which went into production in Q3.

In a statement provided to the media, a spokesperson from Nvidia stated, “The A800 cannot be programmed to exceed the US Government’s clear test for reduced export control.”

At least two major server manufacturers’ promotions for products on Chinese websites feature the A800 chip. Previously, the A100 chip was used in promotional materials for one of these products.

The A800’s specifications were described in detail on a distributor’s website in China. The new A800 chip’s data transfer rate is 400GB per second, down from 600GB per second on the A100, according to a comparison of the two chips’ capabilities. The new regulations prohibit rates of up to 600 gigabytes per second.

India Demolishes Hapless Zimbabwe, Registers a Thumping 71-run Victory

AUSTRALIA: An all-round performance by India saw the team defeat Zimbabwe by 71 runs in the final Super-12 match at Adelaide. Suryakumar Yadav’s blazing half-century laid the platform for the win before the bowlers bundled Zimbabwe out for 115 with 16 balls to spare.

India Innings:

India started with KL Rahul (51 off 35 balls) playing out a maiden first over by Ngarava (44/1). However, in the coming couple of overs, Rahul and Rohit Sharma (15 off 13 balls) broke the shackles and scored runs in boundaries. Rahul pulled Ngarava into the stands in the third over for a six.

Blessing Muzarabani (50/1) broke the 27-run opening stand by dismissing Rohit Sharma in the fourth over. The new man in, Virat Kohli (26 off 25 balls), began his account with a boundary. The duo took 10 runs in the sixth over, taking India to 46/1 after the powerplay.

Kohli and Rahul put together a quickfire 60-run partnership for the second wicket. Sean Williams (9/2) got the crucial wicket of Kohli. The ball’s bounce troubled Kohli as he top-edged the shot to Ryan Burl at long-off.

KL Rahul brought up his half-century with a six off Sikandar Raza (18/1) in the thirteenth over. He departed in the next delivery, caught at long-off by Masakadza. Rishabh Pant (3 off 5 balls) didn’t last long, holing out to Ryan Burl at wide long-on off Sean Williams.

Suryakumar Yadav (61* off 25 balls) and Hardik Pandya (18 off 18 balls) took the Zimbabwe bowling to the cleaners, hitting boundaries at will. The batsmen stitched together a 65-run partnership. It ended when Hardik holed out to Muzarabani off the bowling of Ngarava in the final over.

Suryakumar Yadav hit two towering sixes and a boundary in the last four deliveries of the final over to push India to 186/5 in twenty overs and finishing his half-century off just 23 deliveries in the process.

Zimbabwe Innings:

Zimbabwe was off to a disastrous start. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (11/1) started the proceedings with a maiden wicket over. He dismissed Wesley Madhevere for a golden duck. Regis Chakabva (0 off 6) was castled in the next over by Arshdeep Singh (9/1).

The pace duo of Bhuvneshwar and Arshdeep kept a tight line as Zimbabwe batsmen struggled to get going. Mohammed Shami (14/2) dismissed Sean Williams (11 off 18 balls) in the final delivery of the powerplay as Zimbabwe struggled to 37/3.

Hardik Pandya (16/2) caught Craig Ervine (13 off 15 balls) off his own bowling. Pandya induced a leading edge from Ervine, which popped up in the air. Pandya made the catch difficult for himself but latched onto the ball at the end. Shami struck again in his next over, catching Tony Munyonga (5 off 4 balls) plumb in front of the wickets.

With half the team back in the hut, Zimbabwe was down and out of the match. However, a 60-run stand for the sixth wicket between Ryan Burl (35 off 22 balls) and Sikandar Raza (34 off 24 balls) lifted the Zimbabwean spirits.

Ravichandran Ashwin (22/3) broke the partnership in the fourteenth over. Ryan Burl missed a flighted delivery from the spinner, and the ball brushed his pads before hitting the stumps. The spinner claimed two more wickets in his last over. He had Wellington Masakadza (1 off 7 balls) caught at covers by Rohit Sharma and proceeded to clean bowl Richard Ngarava (1 off 2 balls) for a three-wicket haul.

Hardik Pandya ended Raza’s valiant innings in the seventeenth over. Raza misjudged the pace of the delivery and pulled it straight to Suryakumar Yadav. Axar Patel (40/1) ended the Zimbabwe innings by catching Tendai Chatara (4 off 4 balls) off his own bowling. Zimbabwe was all out for 115 in 17.2 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav received the player of the match award for his blitzkrieg innings, which powered India to an imposing total.

South Africa Vs Netherlands: Proteas Choke to the ‘Dutch Affair’

AUSTRALIA: South African batting made a mess of a 159-run chase as the batting order collapsed under pressure from the Netherland bowlers. Cautiously aggressive batting from the Netherlands batsmen helped them post a competitive 158/4 in twenty overs before the bowlers restricted South Africa to 145/8.

Netherland Innings:

South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. Netherland’s openers, Stephan Myburgh (37 off 30 balls) and Max O’Dowd (29 off 31 balls) gave the associate side a flying start. The duo put together 58 runs in just 8.3 overs.

Boundaries came off the bats of both batsmen at regular intervals as the team scored 48 runs within the powerplay.

Aiden Markram (16/1) broke the opening partnership by dismissing Myburgh, who slog-swept the bowler to the fielder at deep mid-wicket.

O’Dowd and Tom Cooper (35 off 19 balls) hit sixes in consecutive overs as the Netherlands scored briskly. In the thirteenth over, Max O’Dowd was finally dismissed by Keshav Maharaj (27/2). The leggie lured the batsman into a poor shot, and the resulting mishit was caught at long-off by Kagiso Rabada.

Tom Cooper was initially aggressive, hitting two boundaries and two sixes. His fiery inning ended when Maharaj struck again in his next over.

Cooper attempted a big slog sweep but only managed to top-edge the ball to the wicketkeeper.

The new man in, Bas de Leede (1 off 7 balls), didn’t last long. He was castled by Anrich Nortje (10/1) off the first delivery of the eighteenth over.

Netherland’s skipper, Colin Ackermann (41* off 26 balls), hit three successive boundaries in the nineteenth over bowled by Rabada (37/0).

His two sixes in the final over, along with Scott Edwards (12 off 7 balls), pushed the Netherlands’ total to a competitive 158/4 in their quota of twenty overs.

South Africa Innings:

South Africa lost wickets early in the innings when Fred Klaassen (20/2) removed Quinton de Kock (13 off 13 balls) with a stunning delivery in the third over.

De Kock had smashed a six in the previous over. He edged an away-going delivery to the wicketkeeper in an attempt for another big hit.

Fred Klaassen built up the pressure on the batsmen with five dot balls in the fifth over, in which the batsmen scored just 2 runs.

Temba Bavuma (20 off 20 balls) was troubled by the pace and movement generated by Colin Ackermann (16/0). He ultimately was castled by Paul van Meekeren (33/1) in the last delivery of the powerplay, at the end of which South Africa was 39/2.

The big-hitting Rilee Rossouw (25 off 19 balls) hit two boundaries in the ninth over off Roelof van der Merwe (19/0), which yielded 14 runs.

Rossouw fell in the next over, holing to Max O’Dowd at deep mid-wicket off Brandon Glover (9/3).

South African wickets kept falling at regular intervals. In the thirteenth over, Aiden Markram (17 off 13 balls) went for a big hit off Klaassen and holed out to a diving Myburgh, who took the thick edge at short cover.

With the required rate nearing 10-runs per over, Heinrich Klaasen (21 off 18 balls) carted van Meekeren for a six in the fifteenth over as 13 runs came off it.

Brandon Glover struck twice in the sixteenth over. He dismissed David Miller (17 off 17 balls), caught by Roelof van der Merwe at backward square leg.

The new man in, Wayne Parnell (0 off 2 balls), nicked one behind the stumps to the keeper.

Logan van Beek (23/0) bowled an excellent seventeenth over, giving away just 3 runs to pile up the pressure on South African batsmen.

Heinrich Klaasen became the victim of the sustained pressure as the batsman mishit the delivery while going for a big hit off Bas de Leede (25/2).

Logan van Beek safely completed the catch at deep mid-wicket, triggering a massive roar from the crowd.

South Africa required 26 runs from the last over. Bas de Leede gave away just 12 runs while claiming the wicket of Keshav Maharaj (13 0ff 12 balls) to hand the Netherlands a 13-run win over South Africa.

The defeat to the Netherlands effectively knocked South Africa out of contention for progressing into the knock-out stages of the World Cup.

India qualified for the semi-finals, and the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh is now a virtual quarterfinal.

MotoGP: Martin Snatches Pole as Quartararo Qualifies ahead of Bagnaia at Valencia GP

0

SPAIN: Jorge Martin took the pole at the MotoGP title decider at Valencia. Fabio Quartararo, who is nursing a broken finger, will start fourth on Sunday. His title championship rival, Francesco Bagnaia, qualified eighth.

Jorge Martin set the pace at the beginning of Q2 with a blistering 1m 29.612s. That lap itself was enough to ensure pole position for Martin, as no other rider could match his pace in the session.

MotoGP title contenders

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo and Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia endured a tough qualification session as both riders made critical errors during the 15-minute qualification session.

Bagnaia finished eighth after he ran off track on his final qualification lap, seconds after Johann Zarco of Pramac crashed at Turn 6. Bagnaia had posted a lap-time of 1m 30.049s.

Zarco’s crash triggered yellow flags, which almost caught out Fabio Quartararo. However, his lap time of 1m 29.900s was considered legal, enough to propel him up the order to fourth. In his final session run, Quartararo ran wide at the exit of Turn 1 and went off into the gravels at Turn 2.

For Fabio Quartararo to win the MotoGP title, he will need to win Sunday’s Valencia GP, and Bagnaia will have to finish below fifteenth in the race. If he wins the Valencia GP, Quartararo will retain his MotoGP crown.

Marc Marquez displays strong performance

Honda’s Marc Marquez will start from the second spot for the Valencia GP. Marquez set a stellar lap-time of 1m 29.826s. Jack Miller, who was fastest in FP3, will start third. Alex Rins qualified fifth as Suzuki geared up for the team’s final MotoGP race.

An official post-race test will be held at Valencia on Tuesday after the culmination of the 2022 season. Nine riders are expected to make their MotoGP debut with new teams for 2023.
