INDIA: Ather Energy, a prominent player in the Indian electric vehicle market, has introduced its newest offering, the Ather 450S electric scooter.
This unveiling also comes with a revamp of the well-received Ather 450X scooter, now featuring an innovative switchgear design. The Ather 450S showcases a design similar to its 450X counterpart but with strategic downgrades to ensure an attractive, pocket-friendly price point.
One of the most compelling aspects of the Ather 450S is its price and colour options. The base variant comes with a price tag of ₹1,29,999, while the Pro Pack variant, which includes additional features, costs an extra ₹14,000.
The scooter is available in four distinctive colour choices: Cosmic Black, Salt Green, Space Grey, and Still White. However, the True Red and Lunar Grey colour options are exclusive to the Ather 450X.
Enthusiasts of eco-friendly transportation can now pre-order the Ather 450S, with deliveries anticipated to commence in the third week of the month.
Under the hood, the Ather 450S boasts impressive specifications. The new 7-inch DeepView LCD, controllable via the updated switchgear, stands out as a central feature. Unlike its sibling, the 450X, the 450S does not incorporate a touchscreen interface.
The scooter is equipped with a 2.9kWh battery, providing a certified range of 115 kilometres per charge. With a top speed of 90 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, the 450S ensures both efficiency and excitement.
Furthermore, Ather has enhanced the riding experience with innovative features like FallSafe, which detects falls and instantly severs power to the motor, prioritizing rider safety. An emergency stop signal feature has also been added, enabling the rear lights to blink, and alerting nearby users to sudden halts.
A notable addition is the Coasting Regen feature, which allows the scooter to recapture energy when the throttle is released, contributing to prolonged battery life.
However, potential buyers should take note that the Ather 450S includes a 350W charger, requiring approximately 8 hours and 36 minutes to fully charge the scooter from 0 to 100%.
The introduction of the Ather 450S cements Ather Energy’s commitment to affordable and eco-conscious urban transportation, enhancing the accessibility of electric scooters for a broader range of consumers.
