INDIA: The Asus ZenBook 17 Fold OLED, first shown in January at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022, is now officially available in India. The 17.3-inch foldable OLED display in the new laptop is also helpful as a large tablet or a small monitor.
Users of the ZenBook 17 Fold OLED can access a 12.5-inch viewing area when unfolded, and the remaining surface can also serve as an on-screen keyboard.
The screen has two hinges that offer a smooth folding experience. Additionally, the laptop has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two Wi-Fi 6E ports, Dolby speakers, and an Intel Core i7 processor from the 12th generation.
Asus is asserting that it is the world’s first 17-inch foldable PC. Historically, such “World’s firsts” are known to be expensive.
Indian customers can purchase the ZenBook 17-Fold with OLED display, online or offline, for ₹3,29,990. It was available to pre-book for ₹2,84,290 over the past few weeks.
Asus claims that it collaborated with BOE to create the display. The laptop has its own foldable hinges and comes with an Ergo Sense Bluetooth Keyboard, which is 300g and only 5.5mm thick. When folded in a clamshell, the keyboard adheres magnetically to the screen.
Unlike folding smartphones, the ZenBook 17 Fold OLED does not have a cover screen on the outside. On the other hand, the main display is full of valuable features.
The TUV Rheinland tested and approved 17.3-inch display reduces harmful blue light. It also includes a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and support for Dolby Vision.
Asus claims that the screen has a 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2560 x 1920 in its unfolded form factor. When folded, the display has a 3:2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels. The hinges face over 30,000 cycles of opening and closing tests.
A ten-core 12th-generation Intel Core i7-1250U processor powers the ZenBook 17 Fold. The processor has two efficiency cores and eight performance cores. The laptop also has a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and 16GB of 5200MHz LPDDR5 RAM.
There are two Thunderbolt 4 ports available for connectivity, each of which supports 40 GB/s data transfer speeds and outputs a 4K display.
Any USB PD charger can top up the Type-C ports, supporting up to 65W of fast charging. A 3.5mm audio jack exists, but there is no USB-A port.
Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, a 75WHr battery, a 5-megapixel infrared camera, and support for Cortana and Alexa voice assistants are additional important features.
