INDIA: Although Asus started its Android 13 beta testing program for some of its newer smartphones, like the Zenfone 8, reasonably quickly, the company had yet to specify when its devices would receive the stable version of the update.

Numerous other smartphone manufacturers have already begun distributing stable Android 13.

The Zenfone 8 and 9 series, along with ROG Phone 5,5S,6, and 6D series, has finally been set for Android 13 stable update release by the Taiwan-based company.

The update will be released for the Asus Zenfone 9 in December, followed by the Zenfone 8 series. It will be available in January next year for the Zenfone 8 series, including the Zenfone 8 and the Zenfone 8 Flip.

The announcement of Android 13 updates does not imply that the devices will receive the update on the first of the month.

Asus is known to release updates in stages. Other than the inconsistency in the rollout of updates, regional disparities may exist.

According to the announcement, none of the Asus gaming phone devices will receive an upgrade to the stable version of Android 13 this year. It will be available for the ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate beginning in the first quarter of 2023.

Expectations are that the ROG Phone 6 and the ROG Phone 6 Pro will update to the most recent version of Android around the same time, even though they will lag behind the 6D series.

The ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro, ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, ROG Phone 5S, and ROG Phone 5S Pro are the last in line, and they will receive Android 13 starting in the second quarter of 2023, expectedly from May.

Since Asus only typically releases two Android system updates for its products, the Zenfone 8, ROG Phone 5 series, and ROG Phone 5S series will most likely be discontinued when they receive Android 13.

The Zenfone 7 series is a perfect example of the series’ discontinuation. The Zenfone 7 series launched with Android 10 but has yet to receive the latest Android 13 update. However, security updates will probably continue for the devices for a few more months.
