INDIA. Astrology is a science that looks at the sky for getting some direction for a native-born on planet Earth. Vedic Astrology goes far beyond and subjectively tries to understand how living beings get impacted by these far-off stars, planets, and constellations(lunar mansions). It examines these aspects by studying the importance of each planet in our Solar system or the universe (The Milky way) and tries to find a correlation between these and life on earth.

How does astrology differ from astronomy?

Astronomy is a science that studies the universe and what it contains outside of the Earth’s atmosphere, by examining the positions, motions, and properties of the celestial bodies (cosmic reality). Astrology, on the other hand, studies how these positions, motions, and properties affect people and events on planet Earth.

Why does one have to depend on these far-off elements in the sky?

Humans, always looked to the sky, to plot a route to understand oceans, to decide the season when the crops emerge, and to seek answers to the questions about our very existence and where we came from. Meaning, finding our place in the vast universe and thereby influencing the human spirit to change the course or direction in which homo-sapiens should move on the planet earth. It was to establish guidelines or directions to forge ahead in life, primarily, as a primitive society.

A revolution began with Copernicus’s claiming that the Earth was not the center of the universe. Science looked at astronomy, as a new revolution, inventing the telescopes, and defining with objective reality the vast magnitude of the universal truths that were supposedly hidden in the sky.

The early civilizations’ quest

The Egyptians and the Indians considered celestial beings as gods or demigods. They looked at the sky, as a lantern filled with prophecies that were yet to unfold before mankind. They called this science astrology; (a predictive science of understanding the impact of the elements in the sky on the living beings of the generation.) Showing discard towards astronomy, as an expensive science, to objectively find the truths embedded in the universe. Little wonder then that, the modern truths of astronomy were, in reality, part of these subjective astrological findings.

No matter how far we were in our quest and sophistication, there is always a moment that we all have to look at astrology. It was the very first moment when we were looking at the world and the sky subjectively. For most of us, this is an in-depth, search for the aliens (Non-humans) who live within us.

Telescopes and binoculars for viewing the sky

We all love telescopes, of different shapes and sizes, and the enhanced experience of observing the sky using telescopic powers. One would have thought when we were children that he/she saw the sky in the night with awe-inspiring. With the amazing constellations, meteors, and comets, as well as several lights, the sky had been completely open and visible to the necked eye.

The best way to recapture the surprise of that moment is to go out of the country with a child who has not experienced this even, as he/she stares and speaks – “Wow” seeing the magnificent sky.

Astronomy falls into the deepest level of awareness

When we think of astronomy, we fall into a deeper level of awareness and wonder about what we see in the night sky. Some amazing facts about what kids are looking at can add to the goosebumps they already have while looking up at the sky.

The Milky way

Our Sun is a part of a huge galaxy called the Milky Way, which contains hundreds of billions of stars like it or more. One hundred billion is 100,000,000,000,000,000 and you will see some jaws drop.

The Milky Way is one of the billions of galaxies, each containing billions of stars. The galaxy is the smallest of all galaxies. If one were to go through the galaxy, it would take 100,000 years. But there is no limit to the speed. To travel at that speed, everyone would have to travel five trillion, eight hundred million miles a year. Scientists have discovered that the Milky Way is 14 billion years old.

These facts led to enthusiastic discoveries about ‘the origin of the universe’ and space travel’; to find if there is life on other planets.’ All the discoveries of the Moon, Mars, Saturn, and finally the Sun will reveal much about the universe.
