INDIA. Jharkhand: Dumka, the summer capital of Jharkhand, witnessed a heart-wrenching incident of a 19-year-old Hindu teen suffering a petrol attack. The girl, identified as Ankita Kumari, was set ablaze last week by alleged Muslim stalker Shahrukh Hussain Khan.
Ankita Kumari succumbed to burns after fighting for five days with 95 per full-length blisters. According to the reports, Jharkhand’s Dumka police on Monday arrested the second identified accused, Naeem alias, Chhotu Khan, in connection to the case.
Case backdrop
19-year-old Ankita Kumari struggled to tolerate persecution from a Muslim boy named Shahrukh Hussain Khan. The alleged boy badgered Ankita Kumari into a relationship repeatedly and threatened her of attempting homicide, to which she informed her parents about the same. Ankita’s father assured her ease and comforted that they would complain to Khan’s parents.
However, the following morning, at around 5 am, Shahrukh poured petrol on her that burned her alive. She was rushed to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi hospital, where she battled against life for five days.
Ankita recorded her statement that, in the burning condition, she saw the prime accused Shahrukh running away from the place along with his companions Naeem alias and Chhotu Khan.
Loius Marandi, former minister and BJP leader from Dumka district, targeted the police officials for not reacting to Ankita Kumari’s complaint; she had earlier informed the cops about the harassment she faced by her. According to Marandi, it’s a clear case of ‘love jihad’.
On the other hand, CM Hemant Soren announced a condolence amount of Rs 10 lakhs to the family of “Ankita Bitiya” (Ankita Kumari) and asked the DGP to get the case investigated by an ADGP and demanded an instant report on the case. He even asked for a speedy trial from the judge of the court for the accused to be brought to the Fast Track court.
Ankita, the deceased, in an unbearable state of pain, over a video, said that Shahrukh Hussain had threatened her a night before the attack, and she wants justice for herself by saying, “He should die the way I am dying today.” Unfortunately, she breathed her last at 2.30 am IST on Sunday due to irresistible pain and agony.
The nation is mourning her death, and Jharkhand is observing a strike for the second consecutive day. Ankita’s body was cremated in the presence of a huge group of police personnel.
The state is suffering from rage and demanding justice for Ankita, to which many popular names joined the league. One amongst them is famous film director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri.
