INDIA: Only a few weeks have passed since the arrival of Animal Pre-teaser, which piqued our curiosity about Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s take on a gangster drama focusing Ranbir Kapoor as the lead on the stage. But it seems the happiness didn’t last long; unfortunately, the upcoming featurette has been postponed from its earlier scheduled release date.
Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal was set to debut on August 11, which would have marked the film’s arrival in Independence Day week. Building the hype, a pre-teaser was also released, which featured the Bollywood actor as a unique and violent character.
Now it appears the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed film has hit yet another delay point. The reason for the postponement is not yet been revealed by the makers.
Speculations for the reason behind the delay of Animal
But if we look in detail, Animal was scheduled to hit big screens in August on a holiday week, which also appears as a battleground for other Indian films. This brings us to the arrival of two Bollywood biggies at the box office, and surprisingly both are sequels to successful predecessors.
Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 are set to release in the same week. On top of that, Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Chiranjeevi’s Bhola Shankar will also debut on the same weekend, which marks a massive box-office clash.
Talking about Akshay and Sunny’s films, both hold the major potential to bag numbers in the Hindi belt. On the other hand, the Rajinikanth starrer holds dominance in Tamil Nadu, and Chiranjeevi’s featurette has its arena set in Andhra Pradesh as well as Telangana.
If we look at Animal, it is a pan-Indian film, which will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Given the multiple releases flooding the week, the movie may have faced tough competition at the box office. However, it is just speculation about the film’s delay.
Reports have also surfaced online claiming that the VFX work of Animal is yet to be finished, which resulted in the delay, and the film will hit theatres in December this year.
Animal marks Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s third directorial after his earlier accolades Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy (2017) and Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh (2019). Sandeep’s box office track record has been successful, evident from his Tollywood and Bollywood features. This makes his upcoming film a big deal for the audience.
Keeping aside Sandeep’s vision as a director, the stellar cast, which includes Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri, also elevates the anticipation for the film’s release.
