INDIA: The behemoth success of Rajinikanth’s Jailer has reignited the reign of the Tamil Superstar in Kollywood. Now it’s time for Thalaivar 170 to rule the big screens after the Nelson-directed film. The upcoming featurette is about to get grand, with multiple biggies joining the ensemble cast.
Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling Thalaivar 170, announced the actors set to star in the film besides Rajinikanth. Bollywood powerhouse Amitabh Bachchan will share the screen with Thalaiva after 32 years. Previously, both stars appeared in popular films such as Andha Kaanoon (1983), Geraftaar (1985), and Hum (1991).
“Welcoming the Shahenshah of Indian cinema ✨ Mr. Amitabh Bachchan on board for #Thalaivar170 #Thalaivar170Team reaches new heights with the towering talent of the one & only @SrBachchan,” Lyca Productions wrote by announcing the arrival of Bachchan to the star cast.
In addition to Bachchan, Tollywood star Rana Daggubati and the gem of Mollywood, Fahadh Faasil, will also join the team for Thalaivar 170. This will be the first time that both actors will share a screen.
Earlier, Lyca Production unveiled Manju Warrier and Ritika Singh as the female leads in Thalaivar 170. Surya starrer Jai Bhim fame TJ Gnanavel will join the director’s chair along with penning the script. Anirudh Ravichander, who currently maintains a streak of delivering one of the best background scores, will handle the music department of the featurette.
As of now, plot details are kept under mystery. However, TJ Gnanvel told the media that Thalaivar 170 would be a high-budget commercial entertainer with a message-oriented theme.
Following Thalaivar 170, Rajinikanth will team up with the highly talented Lokesh Kanagaraj for his 171st Tamil feature, backed under the banner of Sun Pictures. Fans speculate that Thaliavar 171 will be part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which currently consists of Kaithi (2019), Vikram (2022), and the upcoming Leo.
If this happens, it will be etched in gold letters in the annals of Tamil cinema history with a box office explosion.
