Don to Mili Re-released: Amitabh Bachchan’s Magic Continues in Bollywood

INDIA: Film Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization, started to screen the classic movies of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, marking his 80th birthday celebration.

A total of 11 movies arrived in theatres on October 8, 2022, and will continue to screen till October 11, 2022. From Don to Mili, fans are witnessing the classic films of the Bollywood superstar on big screens.

Don (1978), Chupke Chupke (1975), Satte Pe Satta (1982), Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Deewaar (1975), Mili (1975), Namak Halaal (1982), Kaala Patthar (1979), Abhimaan (1973), Kaalia (1981), and Kabhi Kabhie (1976) are currently re-released in cinemas, which has brought massive numbers of fans back to theatres.

Many fans and Bollywood celebrities shared their viewing experience of classic films

Abhishek Bachchan shared his experience of watching Don on big screens. The Bollywood actor wrote, ‘’What a feeling to see Don on the big screen. Congratulations Shivi, on putting together this treat for all us fans of Bachchan! Also the exhibition by Ausaja is priceless. Boman Irani tweeted, ‘’It’s has been 45 years since I saw this classic entertainer #AmarAkbarAnthony in the cinema hall. Like before, the house was full, and even though there was madness in the theatre then, the noise, applause, cheers and tears were even louder last night.’’

Prominent Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted, ‘’Watched @SrBachchan sir film DON at PVR Juhu on Big screen directed by Chandra barot ?Remembering as a kid in 1978 watching in Gaiety Bandra, After 44 Years.A Great Nostalgic Moment reliving for me..People were dancing with huge enthusiasm on all songs…Long Live Cinema.’’

Shabana Azmi also tweeted, ‘’Unbelievable audience reaction to #DON at #PVR Juhu yesterday. People mouthing and shouting dialogues, dancing , singing like it’s a rock concert . #SalimJaved #Amitabh Bachchan rule.’’

Shivendra Singh Dungarpur from Film Heritage Foundation added, ‘’Who said Cinema is dead? If you were at any of the Bachchan screenings people were whistling, clapping, dancing, crying ..videos coming from all over 19 cities just look at this amazing power of cinema…@SrBachchan @FHF_Official.’’

One fan shared, ‘’#AmitabhBachchan @SrBachchan. All shows in Noida are housefull. The drunk scene received a huge uproar by the fans. The craze for Big B is unmatchable. Even after 50 years he is the biggest superstar. #AmarAkbarAnthony @SrBachchan @MosesSapir.’’

The audience’s reaction to the ‘‘Mai Hoon Don’’ song is also going viral on social media. Viewers can be seen dancing to the music, and many are cheering for the Bollywood megastar’s iconic dialogues.

Given the numerous fans’ reactions, Amitabh Bachchan’s classic film acted as a magnet to attract viewers.

No wonder he is still the Shahenshah of Hindi cinema, his aura unmatched anywhere in the world.
