UNITED STATES: AI has created ripples on the internet since its inception. Currently, it has emerged as a trend setter in generating photographs and digital art.
AI illustrates ‘non-existing’ people in photos
What is so special about these photos? It is only a bunch of people partying in a house, but the catch is that the pictures taken are not of real people; they are AI-generated.
Midjourney was asked to create photographs of women at a party by Twitter user Miles. High-definition photos with excellent natural lighting are the end product. You won’t be able to tell if they are artificially made or real unless you examine them very closely.
This set of images took the internet by storm; the post got tonnes of views and likes. People are stunned and are constantly commenting on the post.
While the images may look quite real, if you pay close attention to some of their hands, you will notice that there are more than five fingers. Also, the teeth are way too many compared to average humans, and the tattoos on the skin look blurred.
One designer and AI expert said, “Due to the complicated geometry of hands, there is no standard collection of lines or shapes that AI can recognise as a hand.”
“To create lifelike hands, AI must integrate multiple unique shapes and configurations. There are 30 geometric divergences in a human hand, including the length and width of the fingers, the metacarpals, and the wrist joints,” he added.
Many such errors can be found if you pay close attention and analyse every picture. Despite the errors, the power of this mind-blowing technology is fascinating, but at the same time, it is terrifying to see how potent this tech can be. It is the time when you keep yourself very alert to distinguish between what is real and what is fake.
AI is rapidly progressing and taking over the world; many tasks are now being performed by it, which in the future will pose a risk to many people’s jobs.
