INDIA: A brilliant performance from Rohit Sharma helped team India chase 91 runs in an eight-over match per side yesterday at VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The match was reduced to eight overs per side due to damp ground and wet outfield.
In this rain-delayed second T20I on Friday, India defeated Australia by six wickets to level the series at 1-1. Rohit Sharma demonstrated his six-hitting prowess with an unbeaten 46 runs off just 20 deliveries which included 4 fours and 4 gigantic sixes. At the same time, Dinesh Karthik came at the last over and finished things with a first-ball six, followed by a boundary to defeat Australia with six wickets and four balls to spare.
For Australia, Aaron Finch played a quick-fire knock of 31 runs off 15 deliveries which included 4 fours and a six, while Matthew Wade scored an unbeaten 43 runs off 20 deliveries, which included 4 fours and 3 sixes. In the final over of the Australian innings, Wade struck 3 huge sixes against Harshal Patel, and his blistering innings helped Australia post a challenging total of 90/5 in 8 overs.
For India, Axar Patel was once again the star of their bowling lineup as he picked up 2 wickets in his two overs. Jasprit Bumrah never gave the impression that he had not played an international match for a while as he bowled some excellent toe-crushing yorkers. Even Aaron Finch could not help but applaud Bumrah for the magnificent delivery he bowled to dismiss him.
At Mohali’s IS Bindra Stadium, India and Australia played their first T20I match on September 20. The third T20I will be played on September 25 in Hyderabad, after the second T20I was played on September 23 in Nagpur.
