Kolkata Set to Welcome Goddess Durga in ‘Vatican City’-themed Pandal

INDIA. Kolkata: The cultural state of India, Kolkata is well regarded for having a strong sense of tradition. Every year the city leaves no stone unturned to celebrate the Durga Puja festival. Due to its extensive folklore, Kolkata has consistently attracted attention over the years.

This year, as part of the “Golden Jubilee” celebration of Kolkata’s Sreebhoomi Sporting Club, the organizers have started to build a Durga Puja pandal with a ‘Vatican City’ theme.

Every year on Durga Puja, the club is known for its innovative approach to creating unique theme-based pandals.

The West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services Minister and Sreebhumi Sporting Club president Sujit Bose confirmed the news by saying, “Shree Bhoomi Sporting Club, which is celebrating its 50th year this time, this time the theme of Pandal is Vatican City’s St. Peter’s Basilica, Everyone has heard about Vatican City in Rome, but only a few lucky people have been able to see it by travelling abroad. Their wish to visit Vatican City will be fulfilled through our pandal this year.”

“It took 60 days to make this pandal. More than 100 artisans have made this pandal together. Last year, we made Burj Khalifa”. All arrangements have been made for crowd management,” Bose added.

The well-known pandal is situated in Kolkata’s Bidhannar neighbourhood. The most cherished and anticipated event in Bengal is just around the corner, and it will start at the end of September and last for five days of nonstop festivity.

The festival is also acknowledged as Durgotsava or Sharadotsav. Maa Durga is a symbol of courage and power, and people around the globe cherish the day as an auspicious event.

The event celebrates the Hindu goddess Durga’s triumph over Mahishasur (the devil).
