INDIA: To ensure the safety and security of the people, IPS Lohit Matani of Bhandara police has announced an open-door policy. According to open door policy, the doors of the offices of superiors or the management must remain open for the employees to have an easy access in cases of queries or complaints.

Through a social media video, IPS Matani has urged people to report any illegal or criminal conduct to him directly. In the video, he gave his contact information, Whatsapp, and Instagram details so that people could easily get in touch with him.

The modernization and digitization of the Bhandara police have gained a new dimension due to this initiative. IPS Matani believes this action will benefit many people, particularly those from the underprivileged sector.

Suppose an unidentified high-profile person is intimidatingly requesting money from someone; they should contact the nearest police station immediately after taking screenshots or other proof. Examples of such people include engineers, social workers, doctors, engineers, government employees, and unauthorized journalists.

“You can get in touch with me if any illegal conduct is taking place. I’m providing both my Whatsapp and Instagram account details. Animal trafficking, terrorist activities, other criminal activity, selling alcohol or other illicit substances, or possessing unlawful firearms can all be reported to me immediately via call, WhatsApp message, or Instagram message,” IPS Matani said.

“I will listen to the calls and messages from the people, and I will act right away and do all in my power to bring them justice,” IPS Matani continued.

Hailing IPS Matani’s efforts, Transcontinental Times CEO Roshan Bhondekar reposted the video on his Twitter account.

The internet has brought about significant changes in the ways that police communicate with the public.

Social media, in particular, has expanded the range of law enforcement communication channels while offering greater immediacy and enabling direct-to-citizen outreach.

Law enforcement professionals function in a highly stressful environment, and sometimes the way officers communicate with one another internally may be less appropriate for public-facing communications. However, IPS Matani’s efforts have brought new hope to the relationship between police and the public.

To report any crime or illicit activity, you can call IPS Matani on +919021052822, text him on WhatsApp or leave a message on his Instagram handle.
