Ukraine Advances Farther into Liberated Territories

Ukraine’s rapid counter-offensive measures have stirred nervousness in Moscow

UKRAINE: The ongoing Russia Ukraine crisis has witnessed a new turn of events as Ukraine is finally beginning to debilitate Russian forces by launching rapid counter-offensive measures and reclaiming Russian-occupied territories.

Ukraine has said its troops have successfully advanced east into territory recently abandoned by Russia, paving the way for a stricter assault on Moscow’s occupation forces in the Donbas region as Kyiv seeks more Western military support.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appeared in his routine televised address late on Monday and said, “The occupiers are clearly in a panic”, adding that his troops were now more occupied in swiftly stabilizing peace in liberated areas.

“The rate at which our troops move. The speed with which normal life is restored,” According to Zelensky.

The Ukrainian president also hinted that he would use the video address mode to address the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, urging countries to speed up the delivery of weapons and aid.

“We are doing everything we can to meet Ukraine’s needs at every level – defence, financial, economic, and diplomatic,” Zelensky said.

Ukraine’s armed forces have taken complete control of the village of Bilohorivka and are preparing to reclaim all of Luhansk province from Russian occupiers, according to provincial Governor Serhiy Gaidai. The village is only 10 kilometres (6 miles) west of Lysychansk, which surrendered to Russian forces in July after weeks of fierce fighting.

Gaidi posted an update on Telegram saying, “There will be fighting for every centimeter. The enemy is preparing their defence. So we will not simply march in.”

As part of its “special military operation” launched in Ukraine on February 24, Moscow intends to seize the highly industrialized eastern region of Donbas, comprising Luhansk and its neighbouring province, Donetsk.

Ukrainian troops have now begun to advance farther into the Luhansk region since driving out the Russian forces from the north-eastern Kharkiv province in a lightning counter-offensive measure this month.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s counter-offensive measures have stirred nervousness in Moscow, especially in the Moscow-backed administration in Donbas, whose leader called for urgent referendums on the region becoming a part of Russia.

Denis Pushilin, leader of the separatist administration in Donetsk, urged to convene with a fellow separatist leader in Luhansk to combine efforts toward preparing a referendum that would authorize Ukraine’s unification with Russia.

According to the general staff of Ukraine, fighting in the previous day had only taken place in the Donetsk region, and Russian attacks had been thwarted close to the settlements of Mayorsk, Vesele, Kurdyumivka, and Novomykhailivka.

The Ukrainian counteroffensive plan has been moving more slowly in the south. The armed forces of Ukraine announced that they had sunk a barge crossing a river near Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region carrying Russian troops and equipment.

“Construction on a crossing was put on hold when it could not withstand Ukrainian forces’ fire. The barge was added to the occupying forces’ submarine force,” According to a Facebook statement from the military.

The Russian Black Sea fleet has been restrained and compelled to move some of its submarines from the port of Sevastopol in Crimea to Novorossiysk in Krasnodor Krai in southern Russia, the British military reported on Tuesday. This is because Ukrainian long-range strike capability has increased.
