FRANCE: Alain Robert, a free climber known as the “French Spiderman,” accomplished a goal he had set for himself once he turned 60 on Saturday by climbing a 48-story skyscraper in Paris.

Alain Robert has climbed a number of the tallest structures in the world, frequently without authorisation.

On Saturday, Robert, who was wearing red, raised his arms in the air as he ascended to the top of the 187-metre (613-foot) Tour Total structure, which dominates the La Defense commercial sector of the French city.

“I want to send people the message that being 60 is nothing. You can still do sport, be active, do fabulous things,” said Robert, who turned 60 last month.

He was apprehended after ascending the tower’s summit. Several times before, Robert has ascended the Tour Total Energies. According to news outlet Defense 92, this time, it took him only 60 minutes to reach the top.

After the climb, he stated, “I promised myself several years ago that when I reached 60, I would climb that tower again because 60 symbolises retirement age in France and I thought that was a nice touch”.

In addition, he stated that the climb was intended to increase public awareness of global warming, according to Reuters.

All across the world, Robert is renowned for climbing tall structures. The world’s tallest structure, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, is one of his daring accomplishments.

He’s frequently been arrested for climbing without authorisation.

He climbs without a harness, only using his bare hands, a pair of climbing shoes, and a bag of chalk powder to dry off his perspiration.

Robert, one of the best climbers in history, asserted that the key to his success was having a laser-like focus. In my game, there’s life on one side and death on the other, Robert stated in April. “Fear or concentrate,” is the only option available.

I’m afraid before a climb, he acknowledges. Fear, however, vanishes the moment his fingertips make contact with the first grasp. “I change into a new fella and inhabit a new world.”
