SPAIN: La casa entre los cactus (The House Among the Cactuses) is nearing its release. The trailer for the Spanish thriller film debuted in August 2022, propelling the psychological feature’s intriguing recipe.

The film focuses on a small, peaceful community that loves to grow cacti in a remote valley. The community is basically a family, including Rosa, Emilio, and their daughters (Lis, Iris, Melisa, Lila, and Dalia)—all named after flowers. One day, a stranger named Rafa arrives into their lives, which forms the crux of the storyline.
Carlota González-Adrio directed La casa entre los cactus, based on Paul Pen’s novel, Desert Flowers. The talented Spanish author, well-known for his grasp of thriller and suspense elements, penned the screenplay. The upcoming movie marks the directorial debut of Carlota in a full-length feature. The filmmaker has earlier helmed a short film, Summer Solstice, released in 2019.
La casa entre los cactus stars Ariadna Gil, widely popular for her performance in Guillermo del Toro’s 2006 film Pan’s Labyrinth. Daniel Grao and Ricardo Gómez also star at the forefront. Aina Picarolo, Zoe Arnao, Anna Ruiz, Carla Ruiz, and Judith Fernández round up the ensemble cast in prominent roles.
Cine365 Films, DZ Largometrajes y, Audiovisuales AIE, Ikiru Films, La Terraza Films, and Virtual Contenidos bankrolled La casa entre los cactus. Filmax acquired the distribution rights of the psychological thriller feature in June. Zelita Montes composed the music, and Kiko de la Rica handled the cinematography for the upcoming film.
Filmax unveiled the official trailer on Twitter, including various social media platforms. The video featured the entire star cast. The trailer piques our interest with an intriguing background score. The best part about the short clip is that very few details have been revealed, keeping the storyline suspenseful.
On September 12, 2022, La casa entre los cactus premiered at Madrid’s Cines Renoir Princesa. The 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival selected the movie for screening in the “Made in Spain” category. The psychological thriller film is set to debut in Spain on September 16, 2022.
