INDIA. Uttar Pradesh: The Varanasi District Court is about to pass judgement today, ahead of the case filed by five Hindu women urging the ‘right to worship’ inside the city’s Gyanvapi mosque. The Gyanvapi mosque is located next to the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple.
In May, the apex court of jurisdiction handed over the case to the Varanasi district judge’s court and District Judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesh rendered the order till September 12, keeping in mind the arguments and points from both sides.
Anjuman Intezamia Committee challenged the maintainability of the petition filed by 4 Hindu women devotees, demanding the right to worship Maa Shringar Gauri, which is built beside the mosque complex. Justice AK Vishvesh will hear the Gyanvapi case.
In a recent update, Police Commissioner A Satish Ganes made a statement on Sunday that “prohibitory orders have been issued in Varanasi. Commissioner and officers have been asked to interact with religious leaders in their respective areas to ensure that peace is maintained.”
Amid the order, Section 144 has been imposed in Varanasi city to preserve the safety and security of people around.
The Supreme Court had ordered: “Keeping the complexity and sensitivity of the matter in view, the civil suit before the civil judge in Varanasi shall be heard before a senior and experienced judicial officer of the UP judicial service.”
The lawyer from the Hindu community, Madan Mohan Yadav, claimed that the mosque was bored into existence after demolishing the temple.
They claim that the lower court thinks that a Lord Shiva idol known as a “Shivling” was discovered during a videography inspection of the Gyanvapi mosque-Shringar Gauri complex.
The Muslim community, regarding the context, said, “Such petitions and sealing of mosques will lead to public mischief and communal disharmony, will affect mosques across the country.”
The detailed video graphic survey was therefore mandated by the Supreme court, and the report was presented in court on May 19.
