INDIA: The Prime culprit of the 1993 Mumbai terror attack, Yakub Memon, has hanged death for attempting a non-pardonable offence. In a recent update, his grave in Bada Kabristan, Marine Lines area was renovated with marble boundaries and decked up with LED lighting.
The Bada Kabristan site, where Yakub Memon is buried, comes under the jurisdiction of the Burial Waqf Board.
The chairman of Juma Masjid accepted that the grave had been beautified without permission. In a tweet, BJP leader Ram Kadam pointed a question against the Maharashtra government in the above context; he wrote, “Why was Uddhav Thackery silent when Yakub Menon’s grave was converted into a shrine?”.
The Bharatiya Janata Party lodged allegations against the Maharashtra ruling party, saying that this happened during the reign of Uddhav Thackeray when the Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance MVA government was holding power in the state.
The BJP leader Kadam, in a tweet, wrote, “Uddhav Thackeray was the Chief Minister. During that period, the grave of the dreaded terrorist Yakub Memon, who carried out the 1993 bombing in Mumbai at the behest of Pakistan, turned into a grave. This is their love for Mumbai, and this is their patriotism? Sharad Pawar and Rahul Gandhi, including Uddhav Thackeray, apologize to the people of Mumbai.”
In 1993 Mumbai was shooked by terror bombings, nearly 257 people were liked, and 1,400 others were deeply wounded. Yakub Memon was booked under jurisdiction for bankrolling financial help to the terrorist organization and helping them regain strength.
His brother Tiger Memon is one of the prime suspects in the bombings. Memon was sentenced to death at Nagpur central jail on July 30, 2015, after his crime was proved. This higher rank of crime is unforgivable and unforgettable as many innocent lives lost their lives along with their loved ones in the unfortunate attack.
