BRAZIL. Fortaleza. In the midst of the tension that is occurring in the world, several people have used their creativity to try, in some way, to prevent contamination by the COVID-19. It was with this in mind that the young dentists, Dr. Liberato Saboia and Dr. Igor Ribeiro, graduated in Dentistry from the University of Fortaleza, developed a prototype of a personalized mask, entirely digital, which they named “Personal3DMask”.
Use of 3D technology
The idea is to use 3D technology to optimize individual protection against the COVID-19 and in a sustainable way, since the mask is printed on a 3D printer, using a PLA filament, which is derived from the beet peel and biodegradable.

The swift increase in cases of infection generated an immense lack of disposable masks on the market, and the exorbitant increase in the sale price, reaching the entire population, but especially health professionals. “The use of technology to our advantage” is mentioned several times by young people when they refer to the idea they had during the crisis.
